I am having a problem with audio dropping out when recording but not during playing. Am I using the wrong modules? Do they have to match? Some of the ASIO source modules do not have a destination module of the same name. Am I missing modules?

the asio2 32 source modules of all bit depth should be used with the asio2 dest. the asio 32 source modules of all bit depth with the asio dest.
the asio2 64 modules and the asio 64 modules go with the asio2 64 dest and asio 64 dest, respectively.....

flt is 32bit float .
if your sequencer doesn't support this bitrate, maybe that'd be the distortion source.

asio2 transmits clock info.
i use asio2 just as a matter of course(as though newer is better..) and have no problems.

and ASIO2 introduced "direct monitoring", which was meant to work with zero latency, if i remember well...
i always work with ASIO2-24...

Thanks,
Now it works. I have no recording or playback or PCI overflow problems. At last I can make music. It has taken me years and lots of money to get to this point. I want to thank Gary and everyone who has helped me.

I wonder why even I after I delete the ASIO outputs in Cubase and add them again it says:
output 1 Scope 24 bit
output 2 Scope 24 bit
output 3 Scope FLT
output 4 Scope 24 bit
I tried to delete it and restart Cubase but it always is the same. Maybe it works but it doesn't seem right. I am not using any FLT module anymore.

it's just a cubase bug. ignore it. it should change with a new project. if not, it will change soon enough.
the important thing is that it should work properly. no clicks or glitches or distrotion=working properly.

I just figured that out. There is a place you can rename it. I also had an issue with it not getting a steady clock but worked that out somehow. That had to do with resetting the ASIO ins and outs in Cubase I think.
