Tried a Recyle demo (from an old magazine-cover freebie CD) yesterday. First time to look at this, quite a cool tool. But . . .

ReCycle seems to be designed only to work with hardware samplers, and it wants to talk to the sampler either through MIDI sysex or through a sampler's propreitary interface running on a SCSI cable.

I couldn't find anything on Sample Dump in my STS500 and STS300 manuals. Is there any way get ReCycle and STS working together? (Or maybe my demo's too old, and the newer version has a way to deal with STSx000 samplers?)

actually you could do it with every sampler. make some keygroups, which are sorted chromaticly (i think, you must start with c1), assign the samples (files beeing outputed by recycle), import the midi file (file beeing outputed by recycle) in your sequencer and assign the midi out to your sampler. here you go.

tks

but this sounds rather tedious. I would assume that for supported samplers, ReCycle does all the keygroup sample assignment for you, yes?? Still wish there were an easier way!

anyway, I'll give it some further study.

You can export soundfont2 of the program, then import it in STS, and still keep the midi file generated for having the same groove to start with...
