planetz has always been a place where a respectful environment has always been maintained in the past. unlike many other forums, this one has been relatively free of acrimony, trolls and bad blood. since it's main reason for existing is so that people with creamware cards(and other creamware products) can help each other get the most out of their systems, it's always been understood that this purpose trumped any political, tribal or personal agendas, PERIOD. because of this planetz is a nice place to hang out in internet-wise and some may feel a little bit too much like they are in their own home, this includes long time posters like myself as well as newcomers.

lately there have been a number of incidents involving insults and insensitivity, shattering the good vibe. for whatever part i have played, i apologize to whomever has been insulted. this is an INTERNATIONAL forum and there are many different veiwpoints. respect is VITAL for planetz's survival. i will do my part to be more respectful in the future and i suggest everyone else do the same immediately. there are two unnacceptable situations at the moment and hostilities must cease right now, or the good thing we had will be lost forever and the people looking for help(the real reason for these forums) will have no good place to go. it doesn't matter who is right or wrong at this point. the only important thing is the end of hostility.

please.

thanks for the consideration.

Gary,

Thank you for posting this- you have said it so much better than I could have. I've been struggling lately with what to do, as moderator of the forums.

I generally try not to intervene too much, and traditionally the planetz forum members have been great at self-moderating, working through differences, maintaining respect. I don't have time to read every thread, so I know I'm not seeing the full picture, but...

The DAS and HolyWar threads have been very painful for me to observe, especially as I see both newer members and those whom I've greatly respected in the past, all engaging in demeaning, offensive (and sometimes embarassingly absurd) behavior.

I've said this before and I'll say it again--- Would you guys really behave like this in person, face-to-face, with an audience of your peers? I don't think so. Please don't let the anonymity of written text lead you astray.

Take a walk outside, make some music, take a break from these forums. Listen to John Lennon's "Imagine". Come back when you're feeling calm.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

Thanks,
-John

Well said Gary
I tried to say the same thing some weeks ago on page 6 of an ongoing topic, but got shot down in flames.

I'm glad the general concensus is that we have a friendly Planet Z

Damn straight. Leave the politics for the pub, eh? I completely ignored and didn't even look at any of the posts in the 'holy war' thread but I can guess the direction it might have taken.

respect is also earned as well as given.

there's no excuse for willfully doing wrong, even though people make excuses daily.

In this one, I truly want to participate, of course:

Once Socrates was standing there, in a quiet and peaceful way, when a man came to him and said:

“You know, Socrates? I have some serious gossip to tell you. There is a guy that has...”

Suddenly, Socrates said:

“Wait a minute please, tell me, is the things you are going to tell me surely true, necessary for me to know, good for my soul and useful for me or other people to stop something bad to happen?”

The man answered:

“Well... not really...”

Socrates followed this way:

“If what you have to tell me is not for sure true, necessary for me to know, good for my soul, useful for me and other people to stop bad things to happen, I’m sorry, but I don’t want to know it”

If we were to start by this simple rules of life... things would be different.

I know that there are topics that may make your blood boil at 100 degrees Celsius! I understand and deeply respect this. But the world is too big to have plain, clear conclusions. All that is going on politically, socially and economically is based in a chain of misunderstandings and preconceptions that nobody can talk about with a real objective background, without loosing grip of reality. Governments are nothing but hidden covers of the real governments that lie behind them. Does it really worth it the pain and trouble to get into discussions that break our beautiful relationships of friendship and music? I don’t think so.

I don’t want to play the wise here, saying “hey, did you see, I didn’t participate in the fight” that would be hypocrisy, because I too am a human being like anybody, and have ideas, points of view, etc. Perhaps the difference is that I keep them for myself, because I KNOW they could cause trouble to others, and what for? Will I change their perception of the world? No. Would I contribute in something positive? No. Would I stop something bad to happen? No. Would I help anybody to be happier or better in any way? No. So, my conclusion to what I could say about is that my words are useless and rather negative, because they cannot help you. My words would rather put you and me against each other.

It is very true that I sometimes are moved by your music, by your beautiful words, when I see how people like Gary can have the patience and good will to “teach” somebody how to get out of the technical problem. I love the jokes of Neil B, when with his relaxed way hi tells o something funny. The gorgeous predisposition of Chris Werner of helping you when there is something to be done. The good will of John when dealing with this kind of things, and when he works for free for everyone of us, just for the “passion” of music and related.

(And all the others, I don’t want to forget anybody, but this must be short or I will keep writing for two hours, but you know who you are, and to you all, thank you for your contribution to Planet Z and all the good vibes).

There are so many good things to point at, ufff, so many, that is wonderful...

I think that if you think much in something, you become this through, so thoughts are in a sense, a bit a responsibility, because what you think, is what you feel and the kind of food you offer to your own soul, in the intimacy of your solitude. When somebody is alone, in front of the mirror, it doesn’t really matter if the fight or words was great or not, he is indeed, the same person to himself.

I send completely the idea that screens are sort of a way to write whatever it comes to your mind while you are at it, but that if we were together speaking about this things, we would come to a much closer consensus, in general, in all the topics that have been difficult along the years of existence of Planet Z.

I feel a real relationship of FRIENDSHIP with many of you, and I want it to last for the rest of my life. I in fact, feel love for you guys.

My best wishes for everybody!

I want to say that in this world, there is already too much pain, we don’t need to trough more wood into the fire, because this fire is already high enough, what we need some magic water to extinct it, and this magic water is music, creamware and your wonderful relationship!

Again, my very best wishes and respect to you all, much love for you dear Planet Z People!

I have to say that the Holy War thread was a lot more interesting to read than this. Excuse me for saying so.

I would not say there was no subtance. There is a remote for the tv and a mouse for the comp. Let's hope people use them.

We have to remember that these are just bytes on a computer server somewhere.
