Its very strange, i keep getting the hardware registration dialog when scope starts up - i click the "X" close, and half the time it loads properly and half not - anyone else experienced this?
any way around it?
all help more than welcome!
Plus i have had a wierd thing with my analog sources - i am running 2 pulsar boards (both 6 dsp) and althought the analog suorce module is loaded it sometimes doesnt appear to function - reloading the module doesnt help - and sometimes a dozen restarts dont work either! Again, please help!
I've had these cards for at least 4 years, and these problems have not come up before - i cannot work out why they are here now - could it be heat? i dunno!? thanks in advance.

Cheers guys - i'll try cleaning it (haven't done that for ages - its probably got loads of crap on it - good tip!)
I think its all installed propery H-Rave, it usually works fine, but typically - sods law - i'm working on a project at the mo and it wouldnt boot up properly last night, and has done the same this morning, but its working right now - so fingers crossed it doesnt crank up while im in the middle of something!

Hi guys,
I'm pretty sure i go all my keys for everything its certainly all been registerd before i usually click the "X" - sometimes once sometimes 5/6 times before it loads and then.. sometimes its the mixer that doesnt load - and sometimes the asio source doesnt load sometimes other things - its kinda pot luck - it is working a bit better.. but its a little temperamental.
@H-Rave - "unlocking the project window templates might have something to do with it" - sorry you lost me there - how do i do this?
Cheers again

Ok, so you arent gonna believe this - now i'm getting different problems - you guessed it - shutdown probs!
Specificaly 2 types - one is the actula shutdown of windows - i click shutdown in the normal manner - and it goes to that blue screen with the windows logo, and says "loggin off", the "windows is shutting down"... then it doesn't! it just stayes there - i can still move the mouse - but i goota click the fornt of the machine to turn it off - and what is strange is that on reboot it does not say the usual "windows was not shut down properly" - it boots into windows as normal! ..odd..
second of all (i think this is related) i've had some wierd probs when exiting programs (mostly cubase, and other "big" audio progs) it gives me a "not responding" sign
- then in task manager the "end task" function does not do anything - so i have a frozen program (usually it does not eat cpu - i.e. i dont get 100% cpu and can carry on doing any other process) that will not shut down/end task? The other thing (sorry for the huge list!!) is that sometimes when i exit cubase the screen goes blank ( no signal ) - i've waited patiently but it doesnt come back on - so another manual switch off..
These probs seem to have occured at the same time and the only thing i think is in common is this "end task process" is slightly corrupted - it doesnt end some programs - and it doesnt end the process of shutting down windows? does that sound about right for a diagnosis? well even so - i dunno how to fix...
Once again calling for Z to the rescue.
Cheers

if you haven't changed anything, it's possible that something has become corrupt in windows. it's also possible that the motherboard, vid card, ram or other hardware has a problem. i'd bet on software. if a simple reinstall doesn't help(over the top of the old installs of scope and cubase), the i'd start from scratch(repartition reformat reinstall).....
what ARE your irqs?
go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information/resources/conflicts-sharing and tell me if anything is sharing with your scope card....

Cheers GaryB, Funny you should mention IRQ's!
I have just been tinkering and disabled/reenabled the conflicting device - IRQ 18 Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller - doesnt seems to make any odds??
Thats firewire right? (dunno) but dont use firewire so i thought i could disable it - and did about a week ago, and nothing really happened - same with when i enabled it again.. just now!
In the IRQ page all status says "OK"..
One thing i have noticed recently is that my c drive is getting a bit slow (its quite old) when defragging (getting rid of fraggle rock!!)
Could it be that my hard drive is about to go? i'm out of ideas.. i just freed up some space on it - got about 25% free - really wierd that it doesnt shut down fully - like i said it gets to shut down point then just sits there.. Oh well i'll keep tinkering - if anything else comes up i'll let you know.
Cheers,
Tom

yes, a dying hard drive could make problems..
the OK thing means nothing to you...
sharing does. that's why i told you to check in that spot. firewire won't really cause a problem if you're not using it, but if you have no reason to use it, disable it in the bios. swapping slots will likely eliminate the sharing as well.

No probs, thanks again Gary - i've disabled it in device manager - and gonna go into bios and disable it there as well- also gonna have another look at power options on the various devices - maybe its that? dunno.
There is one other thing i noticed recently that is odd.. (sorry - the list goes on!) in cubase (SX 3) recently it has forgotten some of my settings/ tweaks in the preferences - i had some custom key commands that disappeared, as well as a few other things?
dunno what that is all about but i bet its related somehow..
