'SPS1_Live' </a>track.

This track is derived from another live SPS1 recording with live mutes, manipulations etc.

Note to anyone thinking of listening & commenting:- It is not finnished. It is supposed to be repetative. It is supposed to be mainly 4/4 TS. It is supposed to be monotinous. There IS a design, not just a 'lazy' approach to music as some would like to think about Techno

i liked it a lot! only thing i can think of is maybe throw in a clap with a biiig reverb as a one shot effect midways. I would also like to hear some punchy subfrequencies "under" the kick.

ha! whoa! blew me away. Monotonous my arse, lots of strategically timed variances. I can't put my finger on it, but this thing works. Maybe it's the fact that I can't put my finger on it that makes it rock!

Piddi, I'll try out your suggestions & see where it goes. Maybe an 808 clap would work, not sure yet. Bass is a maybe on this one. As you say, some subs wouldn't go a miss

Ken, it's an odd one. I had lots of other things going on in the mix, bass, synth lines etc, but in a moment of contemplation about the sound & my goals, it struck me to check it out with mainly just the drums. Then, it sort of blew me away too, which settled my mind on the less musical solid techno sound.

I need to go back to the cubase project & remix most of the multitrack because there's some clicks where I've chopped audio tracks. I thought you guys might pull me up about the clicks, but it really needs to be close monitored on decent headphones to notice, so maybe I shouldn't have mentioned them at all

You are being too modest my friend, rejection is a way of life 4 us musicians. I write several songs knowing that I will be critisized for 8 out of 10 of them. But hey the 2 that make it with the jury will work 4 me. Those are typical odds in song writing. I have to start writing techno style so you guys can shred on me too.

good to know that other user still working on the electro/techno scene...

This scene has gone too much comercialisized...

Thanks, it's probably over-mastered to some extent, but this is it for now. I've tried remixing it several times, but always adding more 'musical' elements, which don't suit the desired style or vibe even although they often sound really 'nice'. Maybe one of these days I'll make a definative banging remix of it.

This is really good. As a minimalist techno piece it has a lot going on. But it rocks. I would dance this.
AND it sounds good with Genelecs too, so if you got creative desktops and G:s covered, the mix is ok. =)

Great sound, I love it!
I would love to know how to get this effect where the kick stops and everthing comes back from "behind" to start a new part. I can't explain it very well in english but I hope you know what I mean. It sounds a bit like a reverse effect.
How to achieve this?

It's mainly just multitracked drums from the machinedrum which are sequenced live during recording (as opposed to a pre-programmed sequence), then chopped up, reversed, copied etc at key locations/breaks. I wanted the breaks to all be different in this, so there's different combinations of reversed drums sounds from the multitracks as well as my own synth samples & some Scope synth work which was tuned to the track, recorded, chopped, reversed & nudged into the groove.

IE. There's better ways I could've done it, but this one was quickest
