I am trying to get a Slicer Effect happening by way of feeding external sounds into a Modular 2 set-up. I have simply used the Control Seq module to modulate either a low-pass filter or VCA, where the external is routed.
One thing I've noticed is that the lower frequency my input sound is, the more a small crackle can be heard when the control is changing (e.g. On -> Off). I was wondering if this was a known issue?
Also, does anyone know of a dedicated Slicer effect going around (I hate re-inventing wheels)
Thanks.

this is what you want:
Phatmatic Pro, by Bitshift Audio, now Glaresoft, http://www.glaresoft.com/products/idrum/index.html
It's easy to handle, has great filtering also per slice, and effects, offers a perfectly integrated file browser, etc.

It is 16-part multi timbral, you can easyly work out your ridm tracks completely with this piece of software.
Together with NI Batterie it's even gold

NI kontakt does also slicing, but I doubt if it is as complete and specially as user friendly as Phatmatic.

Definitely there's more slicing software

I love Phatmatic a lot tho

Does Phatmatic also work on live inputs?
I have simply used the Control Seq module to modulate either a low-pass filter or VCA
Try Flexor's Control Smoother or another Low Pass filter at low freq settings between the Control Sequencer and the modulation destination. This avoids too fast transients which become more obvious at lower frequencies and with larger jumps at the Control Sequencer.

Wow, that pHATmatik PRO seems be some sort of Recycle on steroids. A good drum sample masher. Definitely worth a look at.
For just plain old Splicing, or Chopping, with the Modular, I think atOm has the right idea with smoothing the control signal. It might be just that the signal is too 'harsh'. I think I did have more luck when I manually smoothed the levels out of bit.
Thanks.

That Glitch seems good as well. I can't believe it is completely free. Not even a questionaire!
I would be good to have a Scope Plug-in that does somthing similar.
