Can anyone suggest mastering methods,I've bought Bob Katz's book and this guy is way out of my league,and I mean way,way,away. Why does anyone write a book about mastering methods that only Steven Speilberg can afford.If anyone can clear that up I would be very grateful.Secondly,all of these bundle effects packages,have you seen the price of them !,am I going completely mad. Who buys these things from upwards of 1000 dollars for Tc and Wades violent bumbles for god's,Allah's and Krishna's sake,somebody console me !

Mastering suggestions
the book is quite famous, but I haven't read it (yet) - possibly the companies of the afforementioned products were sponsors in one or the other way
I usually read that type of book in a way that I try to 'cut out' the methods from the examples and transfer them in a context that applies to my own applications.
It's good to know how mid/side recording of an orchestra works, but I will most likely never come into that situation.
Yet the knowledge about phase/signal relations might be useful to process samples accordingly.
Or if you read how that f**king super creamy sound is achieved, you know how to avoid it.
On the other hand you could fill in your bits and pieces into the method and see how far it goes
cheers, Tom

Man,
it's not about the gear. It's the knowledge. And this amazing man lays it all out for you, you should read again and try to grasp the concepts. It will improve your sound even on cheapest of all systems... It's a bible of digital sound engineering...
Peace

@H-rave
It's a buddhist thing, it means wishing all living beings well and that they get rid of ignorance that's causing them to suffer...
Maybe it's not much of a consolation to you, but at least you should know it was not meant to dis you.
Respect,
and may all be well!
