Any EQs with very high Q capabilties?

Hi,

I'm looking for an EQ for scope that is comparible to the Q10 eq by Waves. I need the Q (bandwidth) to go up to 100 or at least closer to 100 than 20 which is the limit to all the Eqs I currently know of.

the speqtrum by wolf is a great 8 band parametric equalizer, but the 100 value on the waves q 10 is not different from the 20 value of the creamware eq's.
If you need more q factor, just switch to notch......

Thanks for the tip on notch, never even noticed it there

Might pick up the spectum or the 8 band. Do they sound better than the built in scope eq?

I plan to use the SSL eq when it comes out for general eqing and then the notching for surgical obviously. But maybe the spectrum would be handy too...

I've never been disappointed with Wolf's stuff, which might be underestimated due to a non-fancy, unpretentious GUI - but it sounds good

It's a very nice plugin indeed. Wolf may well be considering an alteration of the GUI, which might actually make sense if he can easily separate the components rather than layering them in the name of screen 'real estate' bollocks.

non-fancy and unpretentious doesn't mean screen estate, but ultra-high realistic animated screen gimmicks that only serve to suggest the owner just aquired a studio legend for 50 bucks...

I've been keen on wolf's eqs (particularly the speqtrum) for a while but there are no demos available so I don't know whether I'll like their sound or not. Do they sound the same as the creamware ones? Or are they a development of these (it would appear so from the text on wolf's site)? Are they musical eqs or surgical? Other comments? Thanks.

I second the ISON DE-VICE.
BTW my Vox wah-wah got stolen from at a party last month. I imagine it was a guitarist that kept hanging round the riser. Too bad, as it made my clav and rhodes samples very fusiony. Is there an EQ out ther, not a filter, but an EQ that I could use in it's place with an expression pedal tied to certain freq's? It was 35 years old and should not have been used anymore, but I have trouble letting go of things still.

The wah plug pales in comparison, so I will search 4 vintage pedals on ebay. There's something about electricity that plugs just don't seem to catch. I still have that little Vox distortion booster that actually plugs into your guitar jack. It looks stupid but Inna Gadda Da Vida, and Hello I Love You cannot be mimmicked w/o this foul looking device.

kind of .. they are based on a general eq design approach, but modified by me.

Are they musical eqs or surgical?

The "sound" and behaviour depends heavily on the gain-bandwidth settings. With default settings it behaves surgical like modern eqs, the more you change the gain-bandwidth dependancy, the more you'll be driven back into the last century (kind of a time machine knob .. I should introduce this as new parameter

) and will get a musical eq.

So far I really like the sound. I need to explore the filter shape options some more. In a quick comparison with the SSL eq I was able to get more musical results for top and low end boosts as I was with the spEQtrum. I mainly got spEQtrum for surgical work which so far it does exactly what I want and sounds great doing it.

SpeEQtrum might be able to emulate the SSL but I'll be getting it anyways.
