did you do the percussion? sounds really nice! The ambience is complete I think. The tune makes its statement clear.

The percussions are shared between me , Giuseppe and the modular.

The modular does the hihat (synthesized), the snare and the fake reverse fx of the snare, made with a fast slope rising envelope on noise, I play a small druse frame drum with little cymbals an a pretty loose goat skin that is modulated with finger pressure, Giuseppe plays a mini set made of LP Matador bongos and a Darbouka.

The slide guitar is an Ovation Elite miked with a Neumann U87, played by me, the arpeggio (not looped, played all along) is a Martin cutaway miked in the same way and is played by Giuseppe.

The melodic "synth" is...my voice, although quite transformed...

the slide guitar sounds wonderful. So much substance and body to it, and still flows very smoothly.

The slide is sweet, and so Duane Allman-ish. But I like the sweeping resonating synth patches, as that adds so much movement to passages where there is a groove/melody in the forefront. I still think " Themeless " will be one of the brake songs at our gig this summer. Ancient is more commercially acceptable, to those who must have a groove to understand music, as I can visualise the
ancient mating dance being performed.

P.S. I really would love to dissect some of your modules.

Thanks guys...these comments are very nice.
I need very much that this CD is known around, I don't have a way (and resources) to promote it, some american magazine contacted me asking for a couple CD's to write a review, but after they got them they "gently" asked me if I wanted to purchase some publicity....so all I have to promote it is the people who like it an talk about it. Then, if anyone feels to buy the CD and still keeps a good opinion on it, please leave a comment on CD Baby!

13 hours left for the download!

Thank you all, comments and questions are welcome!

Ciao

the only thing I'd change is the width of the stereofield of those few drumsounds...could be a bit less harsh
otherwise great synths, great slide guitar and great athmos in general

Thanks Alfonso, this is gorgeous music. Your style would make wonderfull film scores. This piece reminds me a little of the ambient tracks in films like Betty Blue & The Big Blue soundtrack by Eric Serra. It just has that same float away in a dream vibe. Great stuff!!

You didn't miss out, you can buy it for a meagher amount of money @ CDBaby.com. It's a great way to see how scope is used in respect to modular, and mastered. C'mon support a guy who has given us so much here at the Z, buy this excellant CD before it's sold out. It is better than any crap that's on the charts.
