Search for "DELL" and "docking station" or sthng like that here in this forum.
I remeber someone managed to put a luna and/or a pulsar2 in a special dell-dockingstation with one pci-slot.
good luck,
Janni

check huffcw's thread here

He got a 6 DSP card in the Dell D-Dock & said it was working well. I think he only paid 50 quid for the docking station on Ebay.

You didn't mention that you already have a notebook, just that you are 'thinking about a notebook solution'. Fine details can make all the difference.

Next time, I´m going for a dell ...

Some Questions that will help us help you without playing a guessing game.

A. What make & model of notebook do you have?
B. What make & model of cardbuss controller is on it?
C. What is your budget for such a venture?

Basically at the moment I'd say watch out for a 2nd hand single slot magma, which can be had relatively cheaply. It will however require certain cardbuss controllers to work & that's something that some of the other guys around here will be able to advise on in detail, as they've been thru the mills with what works & what doesn't in the magma dept'.

Check the comments on the masterverb test thread by Legros who has a successful sony vaio/magma cb2 combo & seems very happy.

Also try using the forum search engine with different combinations of the relevant words, like 'magma' & 'laptop' or 'notebook'.

There is also regularly magma chassis buying & selling discussions in the purchasing forum, like the one going on right now

also check ebay, i saw cb2 units go for ridiculous prices last week.. here is one 4 slots unit currently on sale:

http://cgi.ebay.fr/Magma-4-Slot-Expansi ... dZViewItem

that said, be very careful with the notebook model you're going to use with it. This can make the difference between a dream and a nightmare. There is a large thread discussing what components should be looked up when chosing the notebook, texas instruments controllers seem to be the key to unlock the PCI bandwith.

the dell dockstation seems pretty cool but if you want more than 6 dsps, then look for a magma box

yes, i confirm that the vaio vgn-A617B works like a dream with two pulsar 2 in it. So good that i will get 2 scope professional instead

Just one question to connection, are all these solutions based on PCMCIA ? or is there another possibility (through USB or whatever) ?

TO Shroomz: Yeah good idea:-/ But I think that forum is about sharing experiences and for me it would be more valuable to get advices from people who are really using any of possible solutions.

Or do you trust and disclose everything from specifications and commercials:)

hehe, it was just my dry humour Peter.
(although a thorough google search on the subject may well uncover interesting possibilities that you won't see here unless someone else goes and does the googling for you & skips back with a barrow load of info & links to sit & type in a post for you)

In actual fact I'm almost certain that the two possible solutions you've already been advised of (PCMCIA Magma or Dell D-Dock) are the only two successful solutions documented here on Z as having worked well with Scope cards.

Anything else will be calculated trial & error which could be a costly approach.
