Good day,
For my motherboard ASUS CUSL2 with chipset Intel 815 there are some special Intel drivers that I thought was really good for the PCI bus. But now I read on Infinite Vortex site/ Optimizing your Win9x PC for Audio:
""""11. Make sure "DMA" is checked for your hard disks. Winkey+Pause (Or right-click My Computer > Properties) > Device manager > Diskdrives > Properties. If you don't see the DMA checkbox, then you might have the (evil) Intel ATA drivers installed. It's been suggested to uninstall these drivers as they steal CPU, and then you'll see the DMA box again, too."""""

Does anyone has some experience about this?

The Intel ATA drivers are not the PCI drivers, or?

No, of course not. It must be the bus to the diskdrives were talking about.

To check what drivers you have, open Device Manager, go to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Go to it's drivers.

Update,
select 'from specific location',
select 'i will choose...'
choose Standard IDE drivers.

This is a walkthrough for XP, other WinOS' have similar options.
