Hi together,
what if i have the STS 500 registred on my card and i just don´t use it.
Is it possible to trade the device with someone against sth he don´t uses at all or is this something which is not possible?
Or is it possible but too complicated?
Can someone clearify this a little?
As i have the STS 500 and i just don´t use it - so if anyone in here wants it and wants to trade - post!
Happy Eastern

unfortunately it's a rather complicated process, as re-registering wasn't intended at all in the original system layout.
the sequence is:
CWA sends you a programm that 'burns' a new serial number into your card's eeprom.
After that you generate a new request string that you send via mail to CWA
It's the proof that you really did install the new serial number, otherwise you could just keep using the device you plan to trade or sell
Then they will send you new keys for all remaining devices and also generate a new key for the device that's sold, so it refers to the board number of your customer.
You have to tell them who it is and to which board's serial number the device should be registered in case he (or she) has more than one board.
They charge 35 Euro for the procedure.
cheers, Tom

you're welcome
yet (imho) it's not intended in the first place to restrict trading devices - you may notice that you'll never have 'all' that's needed to register a device (to the card) together in the same moment.
This effectively prevents from repeating the process several times to observe it's mode of operation to fiddle with the protection - which still holds after > 6 years
and which I consider much more convenient than the typical 'checksum-cross-the-PC' thing that forces you to contact your supplier whenever a (significant) component of your system changes...
cheers, Tom
