I am getting ready to order a Scope Home to be a digital monitor mixer.
The speakers I will use (Dynaudio AIR 6) only take AES/EBU. The Home card evidently only has SPDIF, the best I can tell.
The website says it has a balanced spdif output with an RCA adapter. Does this mean that it is really AES/EBU with a converter? I have never heard of balanced SPDIF.
If not, what can I get to convert SPDIF to AES/EBU? The only reasonable thing I can find is the M-audio Co3.
Thanks for the help. This forum has been very good for me to get answers for planning my big upgrade.
AES/EBU on Scope Home
the SPDIF on the Scope Home is a mini phone jack 1/8 " 75 Ohms (standard).

I have to agree with Mr. A for the money you going to spend on (the M-audio Co3)you could get a Scope Project with Plus I/O.
you will get on the top of the XLR I/O, 3 more DSPs and the choice for either the mix n master or the synth n Sampler pack

Thanks for the responses.
The Scope 4.5 website for Home shows a 3.5 mm TRS plug, with RCA adapter (look at Hardware Specs). I figure TRS means balanced. Also, the same website (under expansion) has a spreadsheet showing Home cards as having AES/EBU. I figured this was a mistake.

I am a little stuck. I need the 4 ADAT inputs (32 channels) that Home has.
I understand that project only has two ADATs.
I guess I could buy a Project "plus" and then expand it with a Home card. Then I would have 6 ADAT ins.(?)
Did I miss anything?
Again, thanks for the help.

***it is standard 75 Ohms (unbalanced) on the Scope home, balanced XLR usually has impedence of 110 Ohms

***yes it was meant digital I/O which what spdif is. I made a note to the webmaster to correct this with SPDIF or digital instead of AES/EBU.

***This is not correct info. Scope Home + Expansion has only 2 ADAT ins and 2 ADAT out = 16ins + 16 outs via ADAT, and 2x Zlink for 16 in and 16 out that is 32 in and outs. but not all I/O are via ADATs as there is only 2 ADAT i/o
**Scope Home + Expansion plate give you the following
2 ADAT in + 2 ADAT out =16 in/out
2 Zlink in + 2 Zlink out =16 in/out (A16 is needed)
1 Spdif
1 analog
1 midi in
1 midi out

Projects Plus has 2ADAT ins and 2 outs like the Scope Home with ADAT Expansion

I'm pretty sure that the (formerly optional) ADAT expansion for the Scope Home only offers 16 adat i/o channels (4 ports but 2 in, 2 out for a total of 16 channels each direction). If you're trying to achieve 32 i/o (or at least 32 digital ins) perhaps a Scope Project with the "Plus" i/o *and* a Scope Home (which now comes with the adat daughtercard standard) would give you the AES/EBU connection for your Dynaudios and enough adat inputs to fill your needs. It will also bump you up to 9 dsps which I think you're going to find you'll want anyway (and more) if you're truly trying to use Scope as a digital mixing solution. 3 dsps isn't really enough...
(edit: I see Ali beat me to the reply, guess I took too much time to check the creamware site & make sure I wasn't mistaken

i imagine the SPDIF is TRS going to two RCAs, one for in, one for out, so it's still an unbalanced signal, just using one socket.
Go to this link and click on the SCOPE Project and SCOPE Home links towards the bottom left - these give a better idea in table form of the different options.
