hi,

i have a serious problem i just couldn't solve:
i'm using 2 ADAT converters to convert analogue signal into my pulsar 2.

so far i used 1 converter and it worked just fine.
today i wanted to add another converter to gain another 8 inputs , but when i'm connecting the ADAT B source into the big mixer , all i get isa high frequency annoying tone.
i tried to disconnect the converter itself and leave just the module attached to the mixer , just to look where the problem is , and the tone didn't stop , which means the problem is coming out of the pulsar or some wrong settings.

i tried to change all the settings , pulsar master , pulsar slave to adat 1 , pulsar slave to adat 2 and any other combination you can possibly imagine , but nothing , the tone keeps disturbing my tweeters.

i NEED to attach more equipment as soon as possible , please help me if you have any idea.

i use pulsar 2 board with pulsar 3.01 software , it might be a bug , but i don't know it for sure.
if you use the same setup as i do , tell me , and than i'll know if it's a bug or not.

thanx

Difficult to help people when they don't give any specifics!! The brand/model of converter box would be helpful here, along with your current box and current, working master/slave relationship.

Sounds like a digital sync problem of some sort.

BTW all my ADAT ports are working okay, SCOPE2/Pulsar1, Pulsar V3.01.

subhuman , you are right ...

o.k :

ADAT 1:black alesis ADAT at 44.100 Khz
ADAT 2:fostex vc-8 at 44.100 Khz

samplerate settings: pulsar at slave synced to the first ADAT and the window shows 44.100.
both of the red dots of the adats shows it's o.k.

but once again what really bothers me is the thing that the high tone is there without the presence of any adat connected.

First thing I would do to troubleshoot your problem, is of course, simplify the equation a bit.

Start by plugging the Fostex into ADAT port 1 and removing the Blackface entirely from the picture. Set Pulsar to master and Fostex to Optical (I think? Never used a Fostex, but...) and if that doesn't work, try Fostex Internal CLock, Pulsar slave.

Once you find a master/slave relationship that works with the Fostex, move it to ADAT2, see if it still works there.

Then we can go about integrating the blackface back into the equation.

I'll tell you right now, the Creamware SyncPlate would make this sooo easy, if your time is worth money (ie: you do this professionally, etc) then just get one of those and run Wordclock to all your digital units and it will work.

problem solved , yet it took me a while to figure it out , when i look at it now it looks so stupid....

the setup should be like that (in case someone else will need it in the future ):

- pulsar 2 card in slave mode
- alesis blackface ADAT at 44.100 khz as master on ADAT A source.
- fostex vc-8 ADDA ADAT converter as slave and connected with both in/out optical cable (75ohm=off sync=optical digital mode=adat) the "locked" led should be green.

that's it , i'm very happy now , i have 8 more channels , thank you subhuman you helped me to think right to solve the problem.

hi

i have the same annoying tone. and have tried pulsar slave master etc 44.1 etc but no joy.
crackly digital tone still there

i have a yamaha 01v with adat interface 8/8
and pulsar 1 - software 3.01
cubase 5.1

I am only using pulsar adat A

please could any experts email me a start up proj.......because i think i might have my modules set up incorrectly.

p.s. i thought i read in a manual that pulsar must always be wordclock master
