hi! a modular novice has got (a probably simple) question: how can i control eg the filter cutoff (or anything else that makes sense) in a modular synth with the mod-wheel on my keyboard? the manual tells me that i should use a constant value module for that; but not how to do it.
would be nice if anyone could help me.
thank you

the simple way: right click [on pc] on the filter cutoff knob, move your Mod Wheel, left click the "+" - you must have the keyboard plugged into midi in of pulsar and pulsar midi source connected to mod2 midi in.

there is an article at ben's site detailing how to do the constvalslider for smoother changes: http://www.modularsynth.co.uk

'constant value fader': modulation is a knob, that on most hardware synths, auto-resets to 0, CC#1=0, when you take your finger of the knob.

This is not desired for ie. filter cutoff frequency control, cos you'd like the cutoff frequency to remain at your last selected position. You want a knob that keeps it position.

Every hardware synth will send CC# when knobs are tweaked, some require special device settings to do that. In another modus, the device may send system exclusive data instead of CC#. Or it might send both.

System exclusive is handy when you have multiple devices on the same channel. The CC# are then controlled by a more complicated message which may include a manufacturer ID, model ID, device ID, ... system exclusive is not supported for Creamware remote.

System exclusice messages can be one hexadecimal number up to whole machine states and even samplebanks. Sysex is very dynamic. It's easy to use, once you get it.
