EnergyXT this looks amazing, any one here use it?

Hi all,

A while back I heard some pople talking about energyXT and saying it was a super cool app, and I just stumbled acrross is again, I just checked out some info on it and it basically is a complete modular studio thats capable of routing, sequencing, controling anything and everything and whats really wild is that it cost so little, I think it was like EU$49.00..

Its called a plugin chainer but once you start to read into it, its so much more, the modular design is extremely unique, thinking of buying it just to check it out and help support its development, but it does looks pretty amazing.

Does any one have any experience with this app?

for that price you'd be stupid not to buy it, it looks very interesting.

As I am reading further into this, I am getting confused as I go, the power this claims to possess seems infinate.

It can either run standalone as a full fledge sequencer with a modular design and complete routing, chainer editing of VSTi's and a whole lot more, or you can run this as a VST within a host like Cubase and still use all of its features from within, that sounds crazy hehe.

Im gonna download the demo tonight and look at this more closely, whats funny is people have created skins for it that model current apps like Logic and such heheh.

It also appears that there is a massive amount of 3rd party support for modules and VST elements within this program.

It seems this application has had many name changes from its conception, the last one before this change was called "Massiva", supposidly Massiva is ported into this new version accompanied with a whole lot more features.

On the KvR forums people are saying this is a nice replacement for Ableton hehe, im getting that giddy childish feeling again heh.

an application below 1 mb of code - THAT's my cup of tea - just ordered it

finally I have a VST host

currently downloading the manual while browsing planetZ and writing this stuff - with SFP running in the background and energyxt with the Crystal softsynth loaded - almost glitch free on a 1 gig Celeron...

Astro,

Once you get a bit into eXT could you give me some insight as to what you think of the app, I have plenty of hosts as it is, but I have never seen a modular designed app such as this, its sort of like a swiss army knife, all those features, I dont know exactly what it is but it looks pretty cool especially how they explain its a full featured sequencer with freeze function and auio/midi implementation, bloody brilliant.

looks exactly like that, though I know Ableton only from reviews. I was seriously considering a purchase (or Acid4), so you definetely saved me $$$

given the complexity of energyxt and my lack of rtfm this is a very intuitive app. Totally ergonomic midi tweaking, a fun to play with.

I'm afraid with the Akai pads it will even eat a MPC for breakfast

It can do something even the SFP router cannot do: connect several midi outs to one in - it just auto-merges the stuff.

I now can add midi arrangements on top of my VDAT life records or make a quick orchestra arrangement over several midi channels with old Protheus/2 (I just like it's sounds, dunno why...) just by moving the parts around.

The no-nonsense graphic is really fast and responsive - and as mentioned: the price is crazy
just go and get it, you can't go wrong

Just thought I'd mention that energyXT now has PDC, so is totally compatible with XTC without resorting to the XTCDelay modules.

It effectively offers SFP routing in XTC mode.

Think I need to go download the new version (I bought this thing ages ago and totally forgot about it)

I can also recommend Plogue Bidule as a modular host environment... it's a bit like a native SFP.

It has PDC so izt may also work with the xtc mode of pulsar cards.

Its not really a replacement for a main sequencer unless you're the sort that enjoys putting a whole tune together with just Audiomulch and your scope box. However since it runs standalone, via rewire AND as a vst plugin you can't lose.

I personally use Plogue Bidule more than eXt mostly because eXt proved to have stability issues for me several years ago, and Bidule is solid as long as I stay away from new code. I also don't have much interest in saving preset 'effects chains' which is what many people seem to use it for.

Personally for me EnergyXt *IS* a useful way to achieve things you otherwise couldn't, like controlling plugins in ways they normally can't be or perhaps creating your own custom lfo's for parameter sweeps without doing automation.

This might be a good candidate for the vst plugins you use alongside scope thread in general discussion atm.
