I have a Yamaha KX5 "keytar", which is a strap on keyboard with a nice ribbon controller on its "neck". It looks cool and is cool to play. The problem is that since it dates back to 1986, it does not conform to todays midi-standards.CC values only range from 0 - 115. This means that when ripping off fierce guitar licks on Six String on NOAH, i miss the power of the sound since the velocity only reaches 115 and not max at 127. Does anybody know a way around this?

Regards

Maybe you could change the sensitivity of the envelope followers of the synth you use up about 10%? I use an old DX7-s as controller and it works for me.

As far as CC values are concerned, I doubt you use 116 Controllers on your synths at the same time let alone 128, eh?
If you do there are all kinds of MIDI message transformers around to help you with that problem.

No, you got me wrong. The KX5 transmits CC VALUES for velocity on a CC CHANNEL and the values range from 0 - 115 instead of 0 - 127, so the synths in NOAH don't respond correctly since the velocity never reaches full.

So, back to my first answer.
Adjust filter and amplitude velocity responses on the synth you are using +10%. Adjust Modulation depth response the same way.

Or maybe you can add a velocity offset in your sequencer...
