so i gave up trying to figure it out and decided to format my system and install xp again and hope that the pulsar will install bug free this time,,,
i popped in the xp installation cd and started installing.
after the screen in which i chose standard pc there's the stage where the setup just loads a bunch of files, after 2-3 minutes of that i heard a very high pitch but quiet sound and the screen showed a blue screen that windows had to shut off the computer.
and this happened all the times i tried to install again after that.
any one heard of such a problem before?
is it a faulty motherboard?
thanks

i'd say faulty hardware, yes. it's a bad sign when the windows install bluescreens....

Hard to know without hearing that sound you heard but it could also be a bad hard disk.. an easier thing to swap-test than a motherboard so worth a try. It could maybe even be bad memory.. weird problems like that are tricky to diagnose.
