3rd party EFFECTS in xtc mode?

hi.. does anyone know how to get 3rd party effects working in xtc mode?
i tried to copy an existing vst fx.dll to my xtc-vst plugins folder, and then renaming it to match one of my fx in my sfp effexts folder, but when i open up cubase, and open the xtc effect, its just a normal vst effect, with a xtc name that pops up, for instance if i took a vst chorus and renamed it to a scope effect, it woould still be a vst effect just with a scope name..

thats how i do it with synth, to get them working in xtc mode.. ( except with vst synth.dll´s of course)
