I've had some threads last year about one serious problem: SFP said my STDM-cable wasn't connected and the result was my dsp's didn't load. This happened quite alot. After trying everything I could (bought new stdm cables, cleaning cards, new power supply etc.)I saw this in my cset.ini today:

[host-config]
numboards=2
board0=host
board1=host

Two cards are trying to be host. I can't remember putting it in the cset.ini so it must have been the installer. I don't know if this is right but I deleted the last line (board1=host) and it worked immediately.
The manual doesn't say anything about this. It does say something about numboards and the order of the boards but not if this could be of main importance. I don't know if this IS the way to go but it works again.For a long time now I hope..

with a program as complex as windows, anything can happen. good job sussing out your problem! this could be a good hint to others. i've double checked my machine and indeed, as you guessed, there's only 1 host entry.

:sad: it's back again...
I'm near the point that I want to throw those cards out of the window.

That would be a rather definite development - have you tried contacting CW Support on the subject?

yes, they advised me to send the boards to them but I rather fix the problem myself. However in this stage i'm thinking about it..

Try this. Maybe it works.
[Host-Config]
Numboards=1
Board0=Host

If it keeps happening you can also try setting cset.ini to 'read only'. You'll have to remember to unset that to make config changes stick between sessions, but otherwise this should help. An old trick... :smile:

might be more true, as I don't know of any major issues under OS9 :smile:
BTW, I checked the ini file as text file, looks interesting, wish I needed to change something :grin:
