yes, no antivirus.
in fact, it's best not to have a computer full of things not related to music. asio2 64 is 64 channels max instead of 32 channels max.

go to programs/accessories/system tools/system information/hardware resources/conflicts sharing and tell me what(if anything)is sharing an irq with your scope card.

yes indeed the pulsar IRQ (22) is shared with something called:
STANDARD DUAL CHANNEL PCI IDE CONTROLLER

I have no idea what this is. Thank you

as well IRQ 20 (whereanother creamware is mentioned) is sharing with:
realtek rtl8139/810x family fast ethernet nic
I don't need the ethernet so if this is a problem I certainly can get somehow uninstal it? thank you again

sure, if you don't need ethernet, DEFINITELY disable it in the bios, or at least in the device manager.

*edit*
in fact, disable every port and motherboard device that is not needed in order to save irqs. if the card that is sharing with the ide controller doesn't get on it's own irq(or shared with the other cwa card), try moving the card to another slot.

dear garyb,

maybe the ethernet was a problem. when I disabled it in the bios. it looks like that is better. I'm still testing now. I think I can't do anything about
STANDARD DUAL CHANNEL PCI IDE CONTROLLER
has to stay where it is? right?
then maybe if i here pops I'll try to move the pulsar. I only have 3 pci slots. all full. 2 for pulsar and 1 for scsi cdrom for the sampler. thank you.

yep, or switch w/the scsi card.
better yet, put your samples on a hd, get rid of the scsi and free up more resources...

REALLY, a pc should be stable, fast and able to do ANYthing you need it to. macs are EXCELLENT machines, but they aren't magic. if a mac is not set up properly(easier on a mac since they have fewer options) a mac'll have problems as well. also, for midi a laptop is great, but i don't think a laptop is preferable for audio.

be patient, once you find out how to set it up, your pc should be bulletproof in performance(or nearly so)....
