I'm trying to get my head around my shiny new G5 & there is
one thing that is driving me crazy. Is there a way I can get quicktime to be it's own application instead of being opened in the browser? Or is there a media player other than QT that behaves more like a real/win media player (ie opens files & discards the previous)?

open the Quicktime Player
uncheck the mark of 'open films in new window' (or whatever it is called) in the settings panel (Quicktime menu, 2nd item)

cheers, Tom

you can also download VLC which is an opensource player that basically plays any audio or video.

Scary808, sorry for Ot (you got your answer anyway), but could you confirm that your CWA card(s) work(s) well with your (supposed) dual processing G5?
Any comment appreciated

Sorry to disappoint but I'm not even going to try it. My machine AFAIK only has Tiger (it's one of the new dual core machines). I'm going to stick with Win for my CW cards & pass audio back & forth via ADAT i/o. I got the G5 because I love Logic & I owned the Win version. I still need to get that fireface I've had my eye on though. Thx for the responses gentlemen. I will try out that app Ken.

Huub,

Remember about the fact that the MDDs are supposed to have large PowerSuplies unabling to install STDM cables. And not all MDDs can run OS9

thanks for warning Sam, yet I know the difference between Firewire400 against 800 models concidering OS9 boot

I did not know that it was the model I'm after that has the problem of the bigger power supply...are you sure?

To be sure: I was looking for a G4/Dual 1,25 Ghz (WT) FW400, the latest mac that can run OS9.
So you say it's this model that has the too big supply problem?

oh, I'm not sure this is the model... Try to search PZ to find the answer. Somebody complained here about the fact of big PS. Or it was the old CWA forum? :???:
