The title says it all. I am trying to use the MIDI THRU connector of my Pulsar 2 and it doesn't seem to work.

How do you use it?

actually one more question about THU:

can you use the THRU as a second MIDI IN connector? even if its merged with the other MIDI IN it's fine..

Just wondering

I'm not sure, haven't tried, but the thru should be optically separated from the in. Therefore it shouldn't work. The optical isolation makes the MIDI-signal chain reliable but also creates a small delay within each unit.

The thru connector is a standard MIDI THRU like anyothers.

The problem is that the Pulsar enviroment don't allow the use of the "thru" function or "daisy chain links" between MIDI devices, like it don't allows any other possible recursive connection.

This means that in the case of to have the "thru" function in a project, a guy that don't knows very well how to route signals could create easy a MIDI loop.

But this loop will be "inside" the DSP chips and will be NOT OPTOISOLATED: the result would be a burned board.

Many times I have discussed about the lack of a complete MIDI implementation, includding the lack of this function, but up today and as I know there not will be thru function for to use INSIDE a project.

Used as a standard MIDI interface (out of a Pulsar project), the THRU connector, echoes the incomming signals that enter thru the IN connector, and can be used as any other standard MIDI interface.
