PLEASE EVERYBODY, LET'S TALK ABOUT PULSAR 2.04a (by Nestor)

what about the sluggish vu-meters? do you have them?
i question because with my system version 2.01 makes some strange things with the GUI, and sometimes i´ve got bluescreens while closing pulsar, especially after running the computer a long time (48 std.), so i´d like to upgrade, but many people seem to have that meter-problem...
thanks

I didn't mean to necessarily imply that. I'm sure it has a lot to do with smooth graphic redraws, though. I don't really have a point of refrerence, as I've never had a Pulsar by itself, but always had a Pulsar 1 & Scope SRB. The problem you're experiencing doesn't seem like it should have anything to do having more DSP.

Pleas, everybody, let's talk about Pulsar 2.04a
I think that for the interest of us all, it would be nice to post here (gathered all together) the different problems we are having with this last version of Pulsar 2.04a.
I just would like your own opinions about it. I'm on the TEST for the moment, and would post everything I think it may help others or may be of interest. I've just upgraded to this new version and it seems to be ok for the moment. I didn't have any problems, except a very strange one: My file browser became suddenly huge and I could in no way change its width, which became at least, twice the screen *???*. I had to reinstall the program to get read of it as the only possible solution.
Thanks to you all for you contribution.

Subject: Tickety-boo!
Well, I was getting an occasional problem with distorted audio from Logic with 2.01 which thankfully seems to have disappeared in 2.04a. As I mentioned in a recent post, the EASI drivers have high latency (but then they did with 2.01) and now the audio throughput level seems lower using them. ASIO and ASIO 2 work fine though. Haven't experienced the file browser problem - all seems tickety-boo here - very glad I bought the card.

Subject: WinME
I'm running WinME like a charm here. I've used Win98lite to remove all the useless crap (Media Player 7, Movie Maker, System Restore etc etc) and it rules. I have it on both my computers (1 running Logic+Hammerfall, the other running Pulsar).
I am a subscriber to the MinME=better timing theory... I can't say I've scientifically tested it but boy is it TIGHT! Never had any sync problems at all. I used to run Pulsar on the same computer as my sequencer (I changed for many reasons, but the OS was not the issue), also on WinME.
Right now I run Pulsar in OS mode, sometimes running an ASIO synth, such as Reaktor, or GigaStudio on the Pulsar in WinME.... works very nicely indeed (CUSL2-C, Matrox G400 dual 32mb, 256mb RAM, 3xPulsarI).
Hope this helps.

Subject: ME
Well, I never had Win98SE so that's not an option - Upgraded to ME direct from W98 first edition mainly because of the reports about improved MIDI timing. I certainly don't regret doing so though - everything seems much more stable on ME than 98, so I'd see no reason to go back to 98SE even if I had it.

I had problems loading old projects in Pulsar 2.04a, it crashed while loading. After I reinstalled it by means of a full version CD, I was able to load old projects again. Then I found out there that the controler assignment of the view buttons[1-8 8-16 Mix1-8 Mix 8-16] of the bigmixer vrs2b -that I use to control the programs of my Peavey PC-1600X- was gone. So I assigned it again. After I reloaded the project the assignment was gone again. Then I saved the Big mixer vrs2b with the controler assigned. While reloading the project...Pulsar crashed again. Pulsar 2.01 was the only version that functioned O.K. on this feature.

dear Budz
Please tell me a little about running the two computer
configuration, Do you use a ? soundcard and run midi cables to pulsar? I am not useing a sequencer right now but I like the sound of keeping them seperate and I do have a few extra pc's.. anyway any input would be helpful.
Sincerely
