hi all

one of my two io-boxes is dead. i'm in real trouble now, 'cause i've to record a band this weekend, holy cow...

does anyone of you pulsarian wizards know what it could be when the green led of the io-box doesn't light anymore? all leds light red shortly when i plug in the firewire cable, but the green led never light...

I allready tried the second cable from the second io-box (which works like a charm) and also the other zlink port. no changes... still not working...

seems like the box has died. what can I do?

thanx

You know what... the power LED on my luna I/O box has never worked, even though I bought it new in the store. Just my bad luck I guess.
And I have the same thing if I power up or shut down my pc, all eight I/O LEDs will flash red once.
So my Luna box works and sounds good, and all eight I/O signal LEDS work, but I have to do it without a working power LED.

Can you hear any sound if you connect an external device to your Luna box?

have you put it in the exact position of the working box ?
Do you use the (suspected) defunct box with an external PSU - the latter could have failed

cheers, Tom

astroman, i'm a bit confused. what do you mean exactly? the luna 2496 is z-link powered, so how could i use an external PSU?

never mind - I remembered something about a limit of zlink regarding the powersupply of more than one box... but re-reading your first post you obviously have already tried all combinations.

Yet most hardware defects are in some way related to the powersupply, which gives you a good chance to have it repaired by any electronical skilled person.

Electrolytic capacitors are always suspect, but I've seen things as tiny as a stabilizing diode to fail - anyway, these are standard components widely available, though it may be a little late to fix it before the weekend...

you can use the working box as a reference to measure voltages in the defect one.

good luck, Tom
