Greetings

I have a multichannel project that is "ready to mix"...all channels are bussed thru the SCOPE 1632 Mixer - when play from the sequencer everything shows up on appropriate channels on the 1632's meters.

I bussed the 1632's MIX outputs to ASIO channels 11-12...and what I want to do is take that Buss and record the Mix onto (2) new tracks in the Seq.. The New Tracks have ASIO 11-12 selected as Input - but (apparently?) no signal is being sent there, as the nothing records.

Mystified...I am.

Can the 1632's MIX buss be redirected such as I am trying to do?

Anything else stand out that is an obvious problem in this configuration?

Thanks very much in advance -

Ed

Indeed, that's common routing to record the mix... When an active mix output is routed to an AISO Dest in SFP, and that destination is set up as an input on a sequencer track, there's not much left but arming the track and pressing record...

If you open the Mixer and check out the inputs, do the VU's show there? You may want to turn monitoring on for a moment. (for the rest, we don't need any sequencer monitoring, SFP can take care of that;)

Hope this helps!

thanks - yes it is strange...all meters show activity... ASIO output routing to the mixer works OK...MIXER Master output shows activity

so this must be a problem in my Seq (DP) altho I cannot figure it out

all other ASIO seems to be routing fine

anyway - thank for the confirm. Atom, at least I know that this is how it should be done

best

The Mix output, if heard, sends out the signal as you hear it, so it's not a matter of the mixer.

I don't know macs nor DP (I've read you use that), but it's something related to those ASIO channels you are using....

Did you try to record anything else through channels 11-12?

If you experience problems you can always route the Mix out to channels 1-2....now that all the tracks are recorded you don't need to have so many inputs activated right?....

Sorry if I didn't help you specifically, but I have a totally different setup...

thanks - I have tried routing to outputs 1 and 2 also - no luck.

I have doen this before - successfuly.

So it is a DP problem or something - no doubt in the end it will turn out to be something simple

I hope

thanks!

strange thing is that I had no trouble tracking the stuff via:

SPDIF > SCOPE 1632 > ASIO OUTPUT > DP

f@#$%^& weird

computers!

edmann you must check your routing, with the 1632 mixer.
bear in mind that ch1&2 must corresponding to output ch1&2.
in your case ch.11&12 MUST to asio dest. 11&12,period.
cheers

understood Okan - what I mean to say is that just for GP I tried 1+2 also (and 3+4,etc)

I am thinking there must be an ASIO pref somewhere that needs to be trashed

if such a thing exists

safari time - this sys has worked perfectly for almost 2 years

thanks everyone

?

Any Mixer output can be routed to anything else...you're not speaking of mixer outputs right?

actually at this point I am speaking of everything - Mix Outs as well as Direct Outs

What i want to do is send the Mix Outs to (any) ASIO inputs and then record the mix...

thanks

go ahead. you can route any way you want. one caveat, asio modules and seq midi modules must be in place and have the proper number of channels selected BEFORE opening your sequencer. you cannot change the number of asio channels without restarting/resetting your sequencer.

otherwise, ANY audio output can be routed to ANY asio input.

Can you feed the mixer mains into a wave dest and record it in, say, Sound Forge? Does that work?

well folks - I got it done and thanks for all of your time to contribute helpful ideas.

In the end -

1) user error - I had created a new routing window and inadvertantly created ASIO1 outputs and ASIO2 inputs (I know not very much about ASIO)

2) Upon assigning all ASIO i/o as ASIO1 it works

3) mystery to me how I could track this project thru the same config...but I did.

4) ASIO2 is a subject I must study...as I notice in the SFP manual that ASIO2 allows for punch-in low latency monitoring...and (dread) I think DP in OS9 may not support ASIO2

film at 11 just for reference

thanks again Everyone!

best wishes

use either asio1 or asio2. they both should work. asio2 allows the transmission of clock, otherwise, they work pretty much the same. you can only use one asio driver at a time.

Hi Gary

"transmission of clock"

MTC? MIDI Beat Clock?

(these) to SFP modules, as in clicked LFOs or something?

thanks man!

midi clock, i believe.
you'll likely never use the feature.

From the Manual:

"With the optional Sync Plate you can route time
code from, for example, an ADAT device
to the MTCtoClk module, and from there
to the Clk input on an ASIO 2 dest
module. This makes possible sampleaccurate
synchronization between
Cubase and the ADAT device."
