Hi,
I am ,,old school Cubase user´´ for a long time, but some days ago I persuaded myself to experience strange looking software called Ableton Live 5 :smile:

After a few days of testing I must say it is cool. Session and Arrangment concept provides the most of Cubase linear style with possibility of groove and live style making music.

In addition, the graphics & screen layout is for the first look strange and cheap, but for ral work is very efficient and effective (little bit ,,Pro Tools Style´´).

Of course I can use all effects and instruments as in Cubase.

Starting Initialization of Ableton is much more faster than Cubase

Only thing I did not find out is how to use XTC effects and instruments in XTC mode ?

Does anybody know and what is your opinion on Ableton ? (I must repeat that for a long time I was defender of Cubase against softwares like Reason, Fruity Loops, Cakewalk, Sonar etc)

Hi,

I use Ableton (on my laptop) and it is a brilliant, fast, easy way to get on with music making. As far as using it with XTC I am no help. I can't even use XTC with Cubase or Logic.

Now I can load XTC devices in XTC mode into Ableton, but the sound is full of crackles. I tried trick with changing ULLI setting before loading device. But crackles are still.

Can you help me ???

XTC under Cubase worked ok and FYI I have Pulsar I.

Have you tried this?

from Gonzoft FAQ ;

7. XTC mode does not remember your ULLI settings unless you do the following:

Add the following entry into your /SFP/App/Bin/Cset.ini under item
[XTC-config]:

intBlkSize=x

whereby x is a values out of 64, 128, 256, 512 or 1024 and translates as follows to the card's latency:

64: latency = 3 ms
128: latency = 4 ms
256: latency = 7 ms
512: latency = 13 ms
1024: latency = 25 ms

A wrong latency will still be displayed in the ULLI Settings of the ASIO Control Panel, but you can ignore this.

It is a good idea to refresh the plugin info display after changing ULLI settings.

And maybe it's a good idea to read this thread too - I believe it contains all the info and tricks you need to come up and running.

It's working fine here.

Which driver are you using - What does it say in "Audio Devices" in Options/preferences. It says "ASIO SCOPE" here, and the Driver Type is "ASIO".

Just the standard one, which I have edited in order to be able to use the wave-drivers while running in XTC-mode, which means that I have added a module to the project, nothing else.

XTC behaves in mysteries ways, which might be why CW don't support it any more.

The trick where you can make 3rd party-devices available in XTC-mode works here, but not all devices which has been proven to work on other systems.

I can only recommend that you try lots of different settings - I too had crackles in Live at first, but I made them dissappear. It's been a while since I made it work, but I believe the solution had something to do with how the ASIO-driver was loaded, or which setings it was loaded with - make sure that cset-file is configured correctly. I think thats the best advice I can give you.

Maybe if you post a sample of the crackles there might be a CW-ear that knows what is wrong?

Hmm, mine are a bit different:

Try this:

[XTC-Config]
AddHost=1
intBlkSize=128

[hw]
intBlkSize=128

Hope it helps!

I tried to add one more intblocksize but i had to leave 512 because I have Pulsar I and its minimum latency is 13ms (512).

But still crackles... :sad:((

And also no midi signal from my keyboard in XTC mode (in Cubase everything ok)....

I'm sorry to say this, but I think the only thing I con think of that I would try now, would be a complete reinstallation of windows, live and Scope following all the tricks and advice from this forum.
But there's still the chance that Live and Pulsar 1 is not working together in XTC-mode.
Has any Pulsar 1 user's XTC up and running in live?
