I have a Pulsar 1 card (4 dsps) with 3.1 software.

I bought Gigasampler today (Solo). When I tried to fire it up, it froze. When I tried to start it again, it took me to a dianostics screen because GigaSampler failed to load properly.

It gave these three problems.

1) No Giga Compatible card
2) Kernel Drivers Not loaded
3) General Warning

I don't know why it didn't recognize my card. And I have no idea about Kernal drivers. Are they specific for the card?

Thanks,

Thomas

Perhaps your version of SFP doesn’t have a GSIF driver. I remember there was a version of SFP that didn’t support Giga for a while… but don’t remember which one.

What version of Giga exactly are you using?

GSIF drivers exist and work properly under SFP 4, why don’t you install this last version of Pulsar? That should solve the problem I think.

Yeah. That's my plan to upgrade. Unfortunately, the website is not reading my serial number as I can't find my login and password.

I've put in a request for another. Problem is that I have a gig tomorrow night and need Gigasampler as my main tool.

Well, I'm sorry about that.

The only person I know that for sure can help you is Ralf from Creamware, here you have his email:

Good luck with it!

do you have a GSIF-source at all in the routing of your default project ?
If not it can be added by the Software-IO menu of the routing window.

There is no basic incompatibility between Giga3 and SFP - and I don't think the driver changed between SFP 3.1 and 4.0, at least not that I remember... .

I'm puzzeled about it because I've used Giga before with an older version of Pulsar.

I still don't know what the "kernal" thing is. Anyone?

you do not even need to know it...
those were your errors:
1) No Giga Compatible card
2) Kernel Drivers Not loaded
3) General Warning

translates to: I found no card, hence I could not load those drivers and I classify this as a general warning

which is bare nonsense in itself (...one could almost suggest to generally ignore the text of Windows error messages as they tend to be on par with the operating systems degree of sophistication...)

it is nonsense because the program cannot even detect the card. It doesn't probe by hardware, but by checking if a certain piece of software is loaded - or do you expect Tascam in their incredible wisdom to foresee all future card releases

this piece of software is called 'driver' by us regular folks, and it is not available if it is not loaded with the project - that gsif-module on screen in the current project.
It doesn't matter at all that the type of driver is 'kernel-level', what matters is that it cannot be loaded.

it is either not found (missing from the project), corrupt or hidden by some other part of the installation (read: got messed up)

btw this 'kernel' thing means the operating system's kernel - it's difficult to translate to a non-techie term without confusion and would otherwise require a lengthy discourse...
for simplicity see it as a piece of program code that has a special priority and memory protection
the posts of Scope4Live show that Giga3 runs very good with Scope.

cheers, Tom

Apparently 3.1a does not have the correct driver - according to Ali in Canada.

I did physically place the GSIF in the window and Gigasampler did not lock up immediately after launching. But after I thought I was home free, this appeared:

"Scope Driver Ioctl (1036) returned error code - 99

Since 3.1a there has been 3 full versions (3.1b/3.1c 4.0) and always for a reason.

Who really knows what 3.1a includes these days. This is over 3 years old if not more.

It is always recommanded to stay current with the Scope Software regardless.

I have just upgraded to Pulsar 4. I don't, however, know where (folder) to put the GSIF driver. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

afaik it's automatically installed in sfpappapplicationiossoftwaregsif source.mdl
to activate it you add it from the software io menu (or use the live bar) into your project

cheers, tom
