Hi all,

I have two similar machines, both equiped with Asus P4C800e Dlx mobo. Bios settings are the same, as is the WinXP SP2 setup.
There's one major difference though: one of the machines have my pulsar and scope boards installed, the other uses on board sound (and is used for gaming).

While trying to install a game (NeedforSpeed) on both machines, I noticed the scope machine refused to run the game.

Running and comparing DxDiag showed that it has trouble accessing DirectInput on the scope-machine. Also, I'n not able to open my GameControllers icon in the control panel on the scope machine. No events appear in the event-log.

Can anyone verify this on their scope-machines? Does scope do bad things to directx?

thx Casper, but the DirectSound part works fine, and all tests perform well. But before testing, on starting DxDiag, it quits unexpectedly. Starting it again gives me a prompt telling me that it had trouble accessing DirectInput, and it asks me to skip the DirectInput test.
I too thought about the gameport, but on both machines they are disabled in bios.
I even attached a usb-joystick to the creamware system, but that didn't change a thing.
Strange, isn't it?

Don't know if it would help in this situation, but here's
2 things I keep in mind with DX. You may want to try it..

- don't use the directx driver in the SFP project, Wave 24bit suits
every possibility, and
- in dxsetup, audio, disable all acceleration

theres no direct directsound support for directX in Win XP /2000 according to the manual. Theres no direct input ahich ist necessary for dx 9 or higher.
But nevertheless Scope hasn´t been intended for gambling...so you may want to add a standard souncard for dx proposals?

Thanks for all the replies guys, but directsound works perfectly. The problems I have is a messed up DirectInput module, which has nothing to do with sound input.
Can you pls verify problems with DirectInput by running DxDiag, or by opening the GameController icon on your control panel? I strongly have the feeling that part got messed up by installing SFP.

For the record, I found the culprit: my Logic XS-Key is detected as a HID usb-device (without actually being one) which messes up DirectInput on my music computer. Removing the XSKey solves the problem instantly.
On my dual boot machine I disabled the XSKey in device-manager for normal windows use, whereas in the DAW-boot I left the key enabled.
