win xp 64 help!!!
I recently upgraded my system to an AMD athlon 64 and naturally i installed win xp 64 bit in order to utilise the processors full potential...but alas when i began installing SFP 4.0 the setup told me it cannot install the driver and referred me to how i should install it manually (needless to say that didnt work either)
My guess is driver incompatability with the new 64 bit OS so the question is: is there a CW fix for the problem and if not is such a fix emminent?
Thanks

no, and you have the wrong operating system. at this time there is no software to utilize 64bit processing so the question is moot. welcome to advertising where they create a demand before there's even a need. just use regular xp. it'll be a little while before anything is really 64bit. it is debatable if 64bit systems will truly do any more work in the short term(1-3 years). at first the code will not be optimized and you may find some apps that run SLOWER in 64bit mode......

Sonar has a native 64 bit app for free trial right now so I suspect Sonar 5 will have both 32 and 64 bit apps included. Ron Kuper, the guru at Cakewalk is seeing between a 10-20% performance boost using 64 bit. Mind you, that is using all their FX that have been translated to 64 bit I assume. On 2005-09-05 13:19, garyb wrote:

my sad face is due to the fact that for years of great support and reviews and what not from everyone here and i say this with all my heart, that this has been a great home for a novice like me, I've received a reply that simply made me feel like crap. Now I'm not trying to be a wuss or anything but if someone makes a mistake like forgetting to check driver compatability you can tell him something like :"sorry dude there no drivers at the time but maybe there will be soon, good luck"...you don't have to make me feel bad.
everything's cool gary just caught me by surprise...any way no money was lost on my part due to the fact that 64 bit processors cost nothing above regular one's and i have the regular xp pro (i work on a p4 for years now)...it's just that i installed the xp64 and actually felt an increase in performance in comparison to the regular one installed on my system, too bad i cant utilise the AMD's full potential (yet)
