Hi! This is my first message in this wonderfull forum.I am from Spain (sorry my english, but spanish public education isn`t very good whith lengajes) and I have read many Topics looking for somebody who have problems like me. But I see my problems are very very rare...

For three months, I have problems with my scope home, and every day there is new problems.

Computer description:

MB: Gigabyte (i don`t remember exactly what, for Pentium, Dual chanel)
Intel pentium 3.06 Ghz
2024 Mb Ram DDR 400 kingston running at dual channel
HD: 120 Gb
PCI:
Scope home
Nvidia Geforce 5500 ¿128?
Windows XP

Problems: When I start Nuendo 2 (in no XTC mode), All looks fine, but, a few minuts after, suddenly something stops (or not): pluig ins, audio or midi... If I turn off Nuendo, my computer resets, if I Turn off SPF aplication, the computer resets again. And if and error message like "nuendo must be close" appears, when i click ok the computer resets . In XTC mode these problems doesn´t happen (by the moment).
But this is not the only problem: In Gigastudio, when i start, if i have enabled in the project Gsif driver, The computer resets agin.

If I have a problem in nuendo and I can close without the sistem reset, When I start Nuendo again, a message sais: Scope Fusion Platform is not runing or Asio driver is not in your current project: But I can see the Asio driver in the routing window.

Some times, When I start, a message sais: "Error. Scope fusion Platform must be close."

I have reinstaled windows in three times, I tried use Cubase SX 2 but I had the same problems.

What's happens?

I've really no idea about why have i these problems.

Thank you very much for your answer, and excuse me for my poor english and this large message. If you don't understand something, please, make questions.

Thanks again

Hi and welcome to Z.
I can´t help you to find the main reason for your problem but I can help you in one thing at least.

The message `Scope Fusion Platform is not running or Asio etc... ´ is , I am afraid to say, normal.
When there is a crash during you use Nuendo or SX, the Scope Asio drivers are stay in use , let´s say they got frozen. When you restart SX or Nuendo the program thinks that another application uses your Scope Asio and they are not available, strange but true.

So when you have a crash with Nuendo/SX it is always better to close Scope completely and restart it before you load Nuendo/SX again.

I am sure more help will come from the other guys soon. Many problems have been and will be solved here.

I think it is not a problem from nuendo: Cubase give me the same problem, and other applications that use ASIO ,like native instruments B4, not run good.
Other applications like video encoding (9 to 4.7 gigas compresion and windows movie maker) run perfect. I don´t know in games.

It could be a PCI board problem?
Could be my scope damage?

I forgot tell us that I haven´t any internet conexion in this computer (I write us in another computer), so no blaster, no sasser, and no virus (do you say virus?)...

sounds like a midi problem. does it work without a midi controller connected? connect a midi monitor module to the card's midi source and see if active sensing or midi clock messages are being transmitted by your controller. if so, you need to turn that function off in your controller and/or use a midi filter.

Are you talking about hardware midi controler? I have conected a Kurzweil Sp-88 keyboard to de midi in, the midi out it´s free. The midi monitor is in the SFP routing window, isn´t it?
I´ll try it. I hope it runs.
I´ll say you how the sistem works tomorrow.

Thank you for your answer!!

Sounds definitaley like an access problem.
If you tried all OS optimisations already, this might be a hardware problem.
This can be either your power supply, which does not deliver enough power/current, or your memory (use the mem sticks separete). Of course there might be another cause .. e.g. just joggle the inserted (video) cards a bit, while the pc is off, so any just lousy connected contact resettles.

Ok, This morning I have checked my system:
Midi seems be Ok.
When I start the system, all runs ok, but a few minuts later, nuendo crashes, and the system restarts. Then it is imposible work in nuendo.
I´m have been thinking... Could it be a refrigeration problem? I say this because It seems that computer resests when is hot (at start, when isn't hot, there isn't problems)

It's not possible that Scope could be more sensitive to hot than rest of my computer?

Ok, I'll try some video encoding (DVD9 to DVD5, MPG4 to WMA...)tomorrow, and, if anything crashes, I'll try look at the Bios for temperature monitor (or something like this).
Thank you very much for all your answer.

a bad motherboard or memory is often the cause of restarts.

Ok, this morning I have changed Nuendo for Cubase (I tried this a few days before and I had the same problem), and the system seems ok. Why now?
I haven't done anything. The system and the configuration are the same.
Tomorrow I'll test cubase looking for problems. I hope there won't be problems...
Thank you for all your answer!!!

Ok, Today Cubase have gave me only a restart. I have could work a lot. But when I charged the STS 4000 a message sais me " error in DSP file KGparam3 vxd, check the installation". Of course I Looked for this file in C:, and the installation disk: There isn't any file called so! How can the system use this file if this file isn't in the install disk? I look a file called Kgpar3.vxd in the disk, but ovbiusly it's not the file.

Can you tell something more about your motherbord features?

HT technology (check in BIOS)?
How many USB slots does it have (check in BIOS).

And about your OS?
In what state is your computer system -> 'Standard PC' or 'ACPI'?
(see :Configscreen/Device Manager/Computer)
Other pci cards installed?

cheers,

Casper

the 865 chipset is very good with the cwa cards. yours could be faulty, however...

i'd check the meory and if it tests good(memtest), then i'd replace the mobo as the one you have is only about $90 to replace...of course, a reinstall wouldn't hurt either(format and reinstall)...

first, as Casper asked, what is your config?
what exactly are your irq assignments?

yes, that's the info for the mobo itself available on the webpage. what is YOUR configuration and what are the actual interrupts,or more specifically what is being shared?

for irq info go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/system information.
