I'm loading up the Lightwave on my NOAH pretty often, recently. Especially the Krischker soundbank contains some absolute killer sounds

I like the animated pads, the ppg choirs, the analog filter stuff, the sequencer sounds.... Everything is very microwave-ish and PPG-ish but different (in a positive way)...

I think I will start to program that synth a bit

Agree
I'm flying from CW synth to CW synth like a crazy butterfly from flower to flower, but often I return on Lightwave.
If U like this try the Mod II patch "Morpheus.mdl"... a little hard to syncronize but it worth
Only if U have a CW pci board...

yeah, Lightwave is a great synth and it can do some very cool stuff that you wouldn't quite expect. The only thing I don't really like is that I usually just sort of step trough waveforms randomly to see what sounds I get because I obviously don't know the sound of each waveform, so it's not as straightforward as a normal analog style synth. But you get a more varied palette of sounds in return.

btw wasn't there a lightwave patchmaking project some time ago? I know there was one for Prisma but I think also for lightwave...
if so does anyone have the patchfiles for that?

The Waldorf oscillators in Modular are nice too. I've basically built a Microwave II/XT in it. Perhaps I'll post it when it's all done. The only thing it lacks is the 44 physical knobs of the XT. It actually has better filters. Lightwave is quite cool, but I haven't gone digging into it yet. (just got my Scope card about a month ago)

J3RK,
I'm still quite green with the forum here, but would love to see your Waldorf emu. Would it be posted in the Modular section?

I'll post it when I get a minute. It needs a little more tweaking.

can anyone answer my patchmaking question from my previous post?

The XT emulation for the modular sounds awesome...... Would love to try it out too

Hi KoS,
if I remember right, we talked about another patchmaking, maybe for the Lightwave but we´ve never started with it.

The Krischker soundbank ist included with the Noah. Maybe you have to install v1.1 and retransfer all the stuff to Noah...

Or are you on a PCI card?

Speaking of Waldorf, another bump for the Wave emulation by John Bowen should be out normally around next week !
Here's a screenshot ( around 2 MB ) http://www.johnbowen.com/nss-folder/pic ... %20131.jpg

4 instruments so all the parameters you see are for one so multiply by 4 the modulations / filters ... etc you see except the global and performance panels, let's say it has * some * possibilities !

As for Lightwave, I strongly suggest you try 96 Khz on this one, depending on presets it makes a huge ( positive for me ) difference !!

Hmmm, nice  Is it a *Waldorf* Wave or a *PPG* Wave emu?

On NOAH, it always runs on high internal rate. Despite of that, it can alias at certain situations (I don't mean the aliasing of the oscillators but the sine wave of the filter resonance...)

@dxmat: Seems that this soundset comes only for NOAH users. And the presets are not interchangeable, AFAIK  Sorry.

The design is taken from the Waldorf Wave. A number of things are layed out differently, but the functions are implemented as much as possible. No user editing of waveshapes or tables, unfortunately

Thanks! BTW.: Is the filter in the CEM 3387 identical to the 3320 (for which you already have the algorithms)? What about the steppy LFOs and Envelopes of the Wave? Did you model those too?

The filter was a different design by Doug Curtis, adding a 12 dB highpass in there. I had to 'fake' it using the CEM filter emulation I already have plus the standard 12 dB HP filter from the CW library.

The stepped LFOs and envelopes were really alarming - the stepping was so 'heavy', I wasn't sure if Hans would want it...and he didn't, so...no, I didn't put that in the design. I did start with a switch for it, and it could be done, but it's not there now (it's really excessive - I was quite surprised how much, given the price of this instrument originally.) A certain amount of 'roughness' is a part of the Waldorf sound, for sure - I would venture to say it might be a desirable effect at times for the envelopes, but for the LFOs and just about any frequency modulation, it was pretty unusable.

Future versions could include this feature, if the demand is there...

cheers,
john bowen
