There are already good critics to it, I am rather surprised at the amount of plugins... How can they afford doing this? Amazing!

There's also "Mode":

Re "how can they do this?" I believe these are developed in Max/MSP- which is a very cool graphical musical programming language:

Consider buying that and making your own plugins!

John,

how do you think Max/MSP compares to SynthEdit other than the obvious cross-platform issue.?

I would say that Max/MSP is far more interesting than synthedit, but not for the vst's u can create (much in the same way that full Scope is more interesting than just the XTC plugins Scope cards can load).

There is a Pluggo version called Pluggo Junior that is free:

And Logic PC (all versions afaik) have severe problems trying to load Max/MSP based vst's (Pluggo or otherwise). Highly recommended you avoid trying to confirm this mid-project.

I'm sorry to tell these pluggo thing is quite of bad quality if you are searching for serious sounds... Of course they have a place, but not in professional realms.

I wouldn't say so

Sure, no one starts looking for that perfect kathedral reverb emulation in the pluggo directory

It starts where you leave that area.

I use them on a regulary base, in my own songs as in my audio work for some commercial video productions.
you just must be lucky to pick the right plug for the right production.
This way 'quality' is expressed by the degree of how 'lucky' you were, as perfect is 'perfect'.

I used SquirrelParade, Slice-n-Dice and Rye in an animated video some time ago.
I feeded them with only (artificial) footsteps (Foley's Footsteps SFX)!
It gave me the cozy murmeling 'ducks and birds' voices, following a little kid walking in 'his new world'.
(You can hear and sea a small fragment on my site, if you like).

It was really perfect and kids friendly, at least my principals said so

Another price winner is Dr.Dop, if you might say those mentioned are just 'artistic'.

DrDop creates a mono direct line and a reverb line, and lets you define two independent circle moves, you can define the depth and the width of the circles, and all is sincable to song speed.

The reverb seems to chase after the direct signal, or the other way around, very space and it keeps the mid part of the panorama 3/4 empty

Sounds terrific, I used it again recently, on a Virus filter sequence in my song Xpander (on my site also).

I tell you, if the reverb part of DrDop had had the quality of our own Nr.1-with-distance the 100 series of Warp69, I hadn't got that particular effect, as the reverb to work must sound like a compact cloud, so to say.

It's also the (fantasy of the) combination of course that makes this plugin so wonderfull and usuable.

I really know what you mean, but if you say it the way you seem to do, the concept of quality is restricted to bits and 'realness'.

Moreover, Pluggo obviously isn't after that type of quality (check alone the Gui's), it's about creativity.
Which in fact is a quality of quality

No offend, thanks for bringing it up

I am sure that if you like it the way you do, it is because they worth what you say they worth. When I hear your work, I recognise somebody with a great ear and artistic appreciation; I just trust what you say because of that.

I sure made this judgement perhaps too fast. Indeed, I used the demo for about an hour and didn’t like the sounds. My impression, more specifically speaking, was that the sounds in general were quite flat and uninspiring, sort of plastic or clinic, as people say about cold virtual effects.

I think both realms: 1st the emulation of real sounds, and 2nd the creation of sounds that don’t exist in nature, are important in music creation. So if you find something that can do any of both well, this is fair enough. I naturally tend to look for warm sounds, but it doesn’t matter how expert you may be at listening to sounds, when you hear them separate from “other sounds”, you can easily mistake. To be fair I should have tried Pluggo - a synth or an FX - playing in a real song, there I could see the real sound. Unfortunately, when you try a demo, you don’t spend much time because there are many things to do every day…

I’m glad that you defend this plugins Hubird, as this is a little company, struggling against the BIG ones, and giving a lot for little. I will have to give to it a better try.

Cheers
