p100 reverb

Hi

It´s not really a problem but i ask myself if the p100 is strictly stereo and how others use it (probably not in the aux slots of the mixer?). Maybe the send routed via a bus rather than an aux?
Also there´s something odd with the p100. The "PCI Lite" sounds definitvely more dense than the "Lite" version (with same parameter settings of course). It just seems to me that the "Lite pci" has more delaylines then the "lite". Could it be that just the naming of the two devices got mixed up?

as to the stereo issue, i feed it a mono line from an aux and return it in stereo to a channel, like i would with any stereo verb(rev5, spx90, lxp15, dep5 etc.)...

You can use Shayne's "Route" module if you want stereo aux sends.

For the Lite vs. PCI Lite you'll probably have to ask Warp69...

Hey Rogurt,

The P100 is not strictly stereo.

I dont believe I have mixed up the names for the Lite PCI and the Lite version

The Lite PCI doesnt have more delay lines compared to the Lite version - actually it has fewer delay lines (but not in the inner loop).

....interesting ... actually I was about to ask you guys about a problem I was having with the STW Reverbs ( P100 ? )
I can have 4 P100s loaded easily in a project but if I add an A100Lite, even with just one P100, I get the usual dsp overload messages etc , all this while the dsp meter is showing a fairly low reading . This is a PCI Bus issue , right ?

I'm using Intel P3 1.4Ghz Tualatin-S on ASUS TUSL2-C mobo , old now I know but it works great still . Only problem is I can only have 512mb ram . My next question here was going to be what you guys recommend for new chipset/mobo ?

intel865/875 with a p4, although AndreD has reported excellent results with the 925 chipset on an asus mobo. my current favorite soon to be gone forever, d865perl intel.

with an amd processor, the consensus seems to be nforce3....

you might do a search or two...

Do the combinations you mention give better PCI bussing etc for the STW Reverbs ? ... or is PCI always going to be a bottleneck for Scope ?

well, it's always a potential bottleneck. once again, with a search, you'll see how much discussion there has been about it. when scope was originally designed, ram was expensive, and onboard ram was impractical. onboard ram would fix this problem(verbs need to communicate with system ram repeatedly). the 925 chipset looks to have considerable extra bandwidth. the other chipsets work pretty well too. think of the warp69 verbs as expensive hardware. normally in a real studio, you wouldn't use too many instances of them. if you had to have a dedicated reverb machine, it'd still be much cheaper than the real thing.......

Indeed .... actually I've never needed to run 4 P100s at once but it was curious how a so called "Lite" version upset things .
The term "Lite" obviously wasn't referring to pci load/ram etc hey !
For big mixes I normally run a dedicated external harware reverb spdif etc ... Still , the STWs are nice . Thanks for that chipset info , I'll check out all the relevant posts .
