Out of respect, when someone famous dies. You are not allowed to say bad things about that person in the media. When Reagan died there was a media blitz about what a great president he was. I don't understand why dying elevates a man to sainthood.

Luther Vandros died recently. I keep hearing how great he was. HIs music was bad.

You're allowed to say bad things if you want to, braincell

Isn't it to reduce the pain of those left behind, initially?

He leaves to cherish and celebrate his life, legacy, and wonderful memories a loving and devoted mother, Mary Ida Vandross, nine nieces as well as eight great nephews, three great nieces and a circle of close friends and colleagues, his musical family and millions of loyal, supportive fans.

as said on http://www.luthervandross.com/

Not only Vandross is great, also his nephews and nieces are great, and they even didn't die already

Hmm, but he was a good vocalist, and even "bad" music can make people feel good, and personally i prefer a slowbeat love ballad over a bomb in the bus, no matter how cheesy or greasy it sounds.

I suppose he deserves some credit for not bombing anybody.

in his family, his music is the best.
at least he was about people being good to each other, not just sex. not my favorite...but the top of his feild. if your name is shortened so there is just one, madonna, liz, michael, ringo or LUTHER, and people know WHICH one is being named, you gotta give props. savior of mankind? not likely. saint? hahaha... idol to bow down to? don't be silly......there's one thing that you have to give the guy, he had an amazing voice. if you don't like his style, ok, it doesn't matter, all styles are ridiculous. he had a good sounding voice, very smooth. there is a style that demands that, and he was the epitome of it for our time.

don't playa hate.

but i don't mind if you saying that someone was bad if they were. but personally, i don't thing it's great to tell about any bad things just to be mean.

For some reason this reminds me of what the pro life people say about abortion:

"If you have an abortion you could be killing the next Albert Einstein"

My thoughts about that are that you could be preventing the next Hitler!

Better yet, why become pregnant in the first place if you're worried about spawning such evil?

I think we can agree that's an apt description for Hitler...

All this polemic around Luther VanDross...

I don't think he ever thought he'd inspire this type of exchange.

How do you define "bad" music? Is that music you don't personally like....... or you don't personally feel has artistic merit.......

Doesn't matter what the music is .... some will like/loathe it.
