hi
Luna1 (same card as Powersampler1 and Elektra)
Samplerates: 96 - 88,2 - 48 - 44,1 - 32 kHz
Channels: 20 IN - 20 Out (S-Link/S/P-Dif/analog)
Converter AD & DA - 24 bit / 96 kHz

These cards works fine with win xp, but maybe not with original software.
Use Scope Fusion Platform 3.1c or 4.0 software.
Like Pulsar 1, there were some changes made with rev 2 cards (Luna2, Powersamper2).
They use same software and work together.
A little better latency on rev 2 cards.
Same DSP's

How much money? Because I suspect that for older Luna1 packages, the upgrade to Scope Home software costs some money....then if they are the same as Pulsar1 latency-wise, considering that with a Luna you're probably going to use VST synths because it hasn't all that dsp power to run more than few voices of a synth, the limitation of 13msec.s of latency is a bit frustrating.

If you wanna go used, check some newer stuff.

My 0.02 €

Don't worry about luna revision.
Luna1 and luna2 are exactly the same hardware, they are both on par with revision2 pulsar PCI wise and latency also. They both go down to 1ms @ 96khz. It was all about the software.

Luna1 and 2 appeared after the pulsar2.

What i would worry about is the software version coming with it. Luna1&2 had to pay for scope (sfp) software. If it's still at luna2 software, you'll have to pay 99€ to have the scope4 software upgrade. That will surely make the price of the card go down.

I'd say that a luna2 with scope4 software should cost about 200€ these day. Which is pretty cheap considering what you can do with it, even with only 3dsp. Nothing at that price can even try to compare in features with it

At 200€ or approx. get it, don't hesitate, you'll be happy with it for sure. It certainly beat any other pci card in that price range without any doubt in my mind.

If you have a bit more money, i'd follow alfonso advise and get MORE DSP!

It's about 150e (less than i intended to spend for an emu1212m).

I saw on the cw site that the download of scope 4.0 is free ? I'm a bit confused, i'm a total cw newb

Most of the variation in the older product lines had to do with what software was bundled with the card that you bought. Scope 4.0 is 'free' for users of "Scope Fusion Platforum" (version 1 through 3.x for the 6 dsp cards and 14/15 dsp cards). Luna 1.0 and 2.0 shipped with "Luna" 1 & 2 software instead of SFP (scope fusion platform) but could be upgraded to the full Scope software for $99. So if the card you intend to buy has been upgraded then Scope 4.0 is a free download, if it still only has the Luna software then there is a $99 upgrade cost.
