Casper, there is NO difference between your and GWB's way of presenting things - propaganda about obscure proofs.

A quote of an intelligence agency, a quote of a website...
You know the mental pollution satellite TV has brought over us - the first dishes were named SatAn, so it's obvious who sent it, isn't it

There is no discussion possible with someone just quoting site after site - I can look up that stuff myself - and you're far from introducing an own point of view based on own experiences (how could you, btw ?)

The 'other side' is always the bad one, and has to be converted to their own best - a boring truth that applies to almost any political or religious movement from the beginning of mankind on.
It's as american as it is chinese and as muslimic as it's christian - and while we're at it:
I simply cannot but love the fact that one of the last communist societies economically survives on 2 luxury goods of the western civilisation cigars and holidays...

If an event touches you and you want to bring it to notice - no problem. But you cannot insist on a certain kind of applause for a certain kind of opinion.
In that case make your own site.

And please don't forget: it's John who's responsible for any published statement here (in the first place) - experience has shown that these things can get out of control quite easily.

cheers, Tom

To get back to the original post, I agree totally. I don't think it's xenophobia against the USA to consider this viewpoint - I have many American friends who would all agree with this.

To be honest, it's blatantly obvious that the US needs to re-evaluate its attitude or it will self-destruct (there's only so long that moral debauchery can go on before self-destruction occurs - it's happened since Roman times).

Yes, Spirit! I think you're getting the hang of it.
It isn't wrong to point out to peoples mistakes. I've already admitted it was wrong to the bone.

Now lets move on , and discuss this topic in a more serious manner.

Ironic to see the US military slam the photos of Saddam in prison. They made all the right noises about it being "against the Geneva convention" etc. Is the US truly run by spin doctors or does it just look that way? I wouldn't trust their response to anything. They probably released the photos themselves.

As a Canadian friend said, the US have to keep looking outside their country. It's too scary to have a good look at themselves. Imagine the changes if they spent the war dollars on health and education programmes....drug rehabilitation, community development etc.

(In concession... it's a big country. These comments don't include the moderate % who shout common sense.)

Well, i'm glad they got rid of Saddam.
But why this treatment? In DenHage we don't treat Milosovisch this way. I think "if these photos are for real" , it shows once again that human rights isn't the US's prior concern.

It's like telling your 20 year old he can't drink alcohol. But you as a parent drinking it every day.

For what I know of the "Sun" Saddam is not the first one in underwear on that cover.....

I see it also in this way: I'm not sure he's upset about such a thing, he's shown in a much more human nature this way....it could smell of conspiration theories, but he has been one of the best friends of the U.S. and Europe in the past, and for what I see he's doing pretty better than some of his supporters at Guantanamo....I wouldn't be surprised to know that in few years he will be in a golden "prison" somewhere in the caribbean, lotsa $, women and a status of C.I.A. adviser.

I think that if we could suppose that the IRAQ wars have been a swindle to steal huge amounts of money from the people's pokets to reward the weapon and oil companies that supported so much the Bush family, we could also admit the possibility that Saddam was a first actor in it...

I consider it as torturing to clothe the man with an underpant like this one

The publication of this photograph has only one motivation: GREED

Greed from the guy who sold the picture and greed from the Sun that only publishes rubbish. If it were a picture of any other prisoner we would not be typing in this thread.

Casper, do not come here and make bold statements like all of us here walk away from arguments(not arCHuments). It's insulting to be categorised in such a way and I am sure that if you "attacked" in this way you would not like it either.

Peace, and fuck propaganda

Indeed, Paul, I agree that the Sun has large (all?)responsability at this. But hey, it's what they do, and people keep buying that rubbish.

Something that's not that normal as the Sun (or other paperazzi media) publishing disclosing private pics of media figures, is the fact this year, the US will have spent more on defense than the rest of the world all together. I'm sure Bush loves his taxpaying country, which has more analfabetics than some african countries btw.

Of course, I was not pointing any fingers because I believe in the freedom of the press. That would be a nice subject for debate though(not for an archument, a debate)
