Hello to all, i recently upgrated my system to P4 with the d865 perl motherboard. After a week of pain (mainly cause i haven?t installed correctly the motherboard drivers and my graphics card, which by an accident on Bios settings i lost all my c: drive!). Well i have some problems i can't figure out. I can't record at Wavelab at 24 bit without clicks and pops- i tried some different buffer settings but nothing worked (i can still use cubase for recording but i really would like to record to wavelab sometimes). The second problem is that i have some frequent crashes -hard crashes and yesterday i experienced total restart of my computer on a crash! (i had years to see something like that),
some settings: Hyperthreading on, pci latency 64, scope 4.0, acpi update installed, Xp pro (the first edition). All serial-parallel-net, audio on the motherboard disabled, ide pci bus master enabled), i also experience some "hunging" which after 5-10 seconds dissapear in windows explorer... any help appreciated, thanks in advance

yes i have midex3 (steinberg) on usb
some other info for my system: pulsar2, scope srb
no irq sharing, an unknown usb "serial" listed on the device manager (disabled) (i have also disabled legacy usb on the bios), 512 RAm, some services disabled (not any critical), Radeon 9250 graphics card.
The crashes happening when i work on cubase, suddenly the scope hungs (but the music keeps going - i can work), when i close the scope the mouse hungs, and sometimes the system restarts. I noticed that when i close the scope and see the task manager there is 50% cpu usage without any process happening. If i close explorer (through task manager) and then run (command/run) the explorer the system is clear again.
I use mainly modular patches, when i work in general i use about 5-20 % of my cpu, the dsp 's about 80% (i experience hungs with just dynamic mixer), i have disabled the sequencer midi ports of the scope (didn?t noticed any difference). The Ulli setting is 25ms...
i mainly suspect the graphics card, should i check the midi interface? and how will i drive my synths? (i also send midi to scope through the midi interface for better midi timing)

Finally after a complete reinstall, i made it to work. Now i have some hungs but in general itãs a stable system. (i have a project which hungs after 1-2 hours but i use a 16 ouput asio and some 4 input- and the dsp's are full and there are 4-5 modulars in there, so itãs fair). I got really anxious in the first days cause everything went wrong. Anyway i havenãt figure out how to make the wavelab record without clicks. and something else I donãt know if anyone interested but finally i bought some long cables and i moved my machine on the next room- itãs cheaper that buying some silent parts for the system and works a treat.. I can't really stand the noise... that i don't produce
Are the clicks actually recorded, or is it just a play-back problem?.....On 2005-05-24 06:08, fra77x wrote:

sometimes I get clicks when playing audio using Wave driver devices if I have a project open which uses PCI bus/memory intensive plugins like reverb.
eg when I've just recorded a mix to Wavelab and try playing it back, particularly with projects which started out in Scope 3....as soon as I load a simpler project playback is fine, & I can do this without closing Wavelab.
