Can I still play games with my creamware card?

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

I know that I'll get a lecture about keeping my daw clean, but I just can't afford another machine.

Can I still play games with my creamware card for sound, or should I install another card?

I went to the windows 'multimedia setup' and it says that I have no audio device.

I plan on starting to install my software (sonar, etc.) tomorrow, and I'm printing out the manual right now. I just need someone to help me get this sucker up and running.

just have a "wave source" connected tou your scope mixer and you will be fine. (most of the time anyway...

there is some games having issues (as far as i can remember), sample rate convertion errors may occur. if im not totally wrong the game galled "mafia" gave the socalled "chipmunk" effesct, and you might encounter similar problems with other games. I also had the same problem with the IP-phone program called "skype" some time ago, dont know if its fixed.

Curiously enough i also experienced this problem in another game (dont remember which), but it had a setting in its sound options saying "use compability mode. i checked the box and voila, the game worked perfectly.

i guess this means that if the game can do true SB16-comatible sound it will work fine.

Thanks for the advice. I must have installed something wrong, because I can't get a peep out of this card no matter what I do.

The specific game I'm talking about is Dark Age of Camelot.

Yeah, all my games have worked fine. Cyan's Myst games (including the new ones, URU and Myst 4), old DOS games, MarbleBlast, SimCity 4, Syberia, others....

Try Direct Sound drivers. It works for some games but not for others.

CreamWare made it clear that Scope is not a gaming card, so the fact we're able to run any of these games at all is a very good thing.

I've encountered distortion while playing a couple games, I was able to fix things by swithing to a a 96 samplerate.

By the way, forget about DaoC and come on over to World of Warcraft. ; )

If you're getting distortion you might also try increasing the Wav driver buffer size in the control panel (assuming you don't use WDM with Sonar).
