I´ve just build a new DAW around my Pulsar 2.
My configuration :
P4P800-X with new Bios 1008
Intel P4 Prescott 3,0GHz
2x 512MB DDR 400 Samsung
Matrox Millenium G550 DH
Scope 4 and Samplitude V8
-
The Problem now is that i have heavy Noises at the Audio Output. I hear every move with the Cursor, every HDD activity at the Output. It´s not a 50Hz electromagnetic interference.
A empy Window without any action and the Speakers will be quiet.
Is the Matrox the bad device ?
Does anyone use the same or similar setup?
Can you give me any Help.

Thanks a lot

up to now i used Asus P3B-F and it worked fine with a Intel P3

Try a newer AGP driver for your motherboard. try increasing the latency in the SFP. Try using fewer reverbs, etc..

What powersupply did you get?

Did you use all the copper mounting screws that line up with the copper groundpoints on your motherboard when mounting to the backplane?

Is your mouse attached via usb? (try a ps/2 adaptor to see if it helps)

Thanks a lot for Help.
I have tried a lot of things.
IRQ setting is as follow :

IRQ ISA 0 SYSTEM
IRQ ISA 1 PC/AT-PS/2-TASTATUR
IRQ ISA 3 COM 1
IRQ ISA 4 COM 1
IRQ ISA 6 FLOPPY
IRQ ISA 8 SYSTEM TIME
IRQ ISA 12 PS/2 MOUSE
IRQ ISA 13 NUMMERIC COPROZESSOR
IRQ PCI 5 ULTRA ATA STORAGE CONTROLLER
IRQ PCI 5 USB UNIVERSAL HOSTCONTROLLER 24D7
IRQ PCI 10 CREAMWARE PULSAR 2
IRQ PCI 10 USB UNIVERSAL HOSTCONTROLLER 24D4
IRQ PCI 10 USB UNIVERSAL HOSTCONTROLLER 24DD
IRQ PCI 11 USB UNIVERSAL HOSTCONTROLLER 24D2
IRQ PCI 11 USB UNIVERSAL HOSTCONTROLLER 24DE
IRQ PCI 11 MATROX MILLENIUM G550

On Board Sound and LAN is disabled

Can i change the IRQ of Pulsar under Win XP ?
I don`t know how.
I have changed the PCI-Slot but WinXP allways shared IRQ of Pulsar
with USB. Disable USB makes no better work.

My Board has 7 copper mounting screws but i use only 6 because my
backplane has only 6 points.
I use a 350 W Power and a PS/2 Mouse.
I have reinstaled Win98 an the Problen is still there.
I have also uninstalled pulsat 2 and install a simpel
Terratec Soundcard. The Noise is on this Card Output as well.
The only things i didn´t changed so far are the RAM and the CPU.
I don´t have a second CPU or RAM.

This makes me crazy.

you could try playing around with refresh rates on your monitors . I've got that mobo and a g550 , its an agpx4 board on an x8 port and tho it works it might be uncomfortable. I had a couple of freezes after I installed the matrox software and it seemed to clear up when I dropped the refresh rate for the monitors . If it comes back I'm gonna think about a different mobo [its a long story ...I didn't pick it ]
Cheers

use a ps/2 mouse, disable the usb port that is sharing with the cwa card and be sure that busmastering is disabled for the matrox card in properties in the device manager....you may need to be sure that you have the latest drivers and bios...was this a clean(new) install?

I had the same problem recently. It turned out to be the power supply. Too many devices using too much power on one of my power lines. It also caused a lot of bombing and freezing.
