Well, I just paid the frieght for Luna 3.01 with W2000 Driver support...and, just like before, you can't install it (the software) on top of the Pulsar. I even tried to install the Luna Driver as an upgrade to the Pulsar (sneaky, and dumb I guess)...well, I believe they're the same ScopeWDM driver..anyway, it didn't make any difference. Now, seems like I'm the same boat as before, even thos I "can" load Luna software now, it won't cohabitate with my PulsarI card...unfortunate as I loose all the advantages of the new Luna effects, upgrades if the software isn't loaded. Right?
Well I admit I didn't deinstall 3.01 upgrade yet, but I probably should and the ol' Pulsar card might work and "fill in the Luna Blanks...but from where? Or should I just load the Luna W2000 software and forget the Pulsar software? With both softwares "live", I simply get a message that it can't find the hardware (drivers)...and when you install the Luna software on W2000, all I see under the sound category is the Creamware PCI card...nothing about Luna listed under sounds...you'd think it might get a mention? So bottom linethere must be a way to get the latest goodies out of the 3.01 versio...maybe as before, don't load the software, even tho you can do it now.
Bahhhh!

I'm confused by your post. You have a Pulsar and you bought the Luna software? Why?

If you have a Pulsar, you have Windows2k drivers for all your cards already under the Pulsar software. And all devices from other cards (luna/scope/elektra/powersampler) can be used inside the Pulsar V3 environment just fine.

I have a Pulsar+SCOPE+Luna working nearly perfect under ME/XP dualboot, both running Pulsar V3 software...

So...I shouldn't have upgraded to Luna 3.01?
If you understand me, here we have a "new" version of Luna with these new effects and many other software improvements...and Creamware even added W2000 compatability? Well well, I was fooled into thinking the software is meaningful?! I could understand before that don't load both softwares...in fact I couldn't in my W2000 machine anyway. But, now since the Luna HAS been in my computer successfully working along with STDM and PulsarI, all this new stuff would magically integrate without adding the Luna Software. I'm old and slow, but now using the same W2000 Drivers with both...ScopeWDM's...that is, if you do what you shouldn't do and take the new 3.01 upgrade with its bells and whistles and try to incorporate the sofware by installing it.
No, no...hold it fellow...forget paying the money...well, pay the money and just keep the ol' Luna card in there alongside PulsarI and V3 OSversion...without the NEW Luna Features on the Luna software...they'll be recognized by the Pulsar V3 SW by osmosis.
If you wanna be a sucker and pay for the Luna 3.01 and be able to install it...just put the card and install the software in another machine so you can use the improved mixer, the new effects..blah, blah. You tell ME how these features will be "picked up" without software 3.01 being installed!?
If you've read what they've added in the way of the new upgrade...you're sorta suckered into shell the money out. Little did you know that you'd have to rip the STDM off the Luna and send it away to another computer to utilize its new features. I guess what you tell me is to install the sw, drag it all into the Pulsar Folder and everything will be just fine after you then delete the Luna software. But how do you "drag" a virtually all these new improvements when you have no idea where they all are in the new Luna3 Folder??

From what I understand, Luna V3 just gives you a ton of the effects (including masterVerb) found in Pulsar V3, along with some of the new Pulsar V3 features like AC3 out, and 2k/XP support.

As you've noticed, the 2k/XP driver in Luna V3 is of course the same driver as in Pulsar V3. Remember, when you install an STDM cable "they all act as one card" and Creamware does use a unified driver model with different software (much like nVidia).

I'm not sure if there is anything in Luna V3 upgrade that isn't already in Pulsar V3. You would seemingly (correct me if I've over looked something) only get benefits if Luna was your only card (or say, Luna+Pulsar XTC).

I have a Pulsar1+Luna2 combination, and didn't need to buy anything to get full 2k/XP support and the masterVerb...

Is this clear, or was there some reason that you bought the Luna V3 software that I am overlooking? It sure is nice to have 2 machines, and Luna V3 would definitely be useful there, especially if you Lightpiped them together (Luna+ADAT expansion) for 16 channels back& forth. In this case, you would still be able to use masterVerb and some of the other effects on both machines.

Luna V3 basically in my eyes makes a Luna almost literally half-a-Pulsar for way less than half price. It is an excellent deal, especially now with the masterVerb & effects included for new users. Heck, when I bought my own Luna2 for $329 last year, I considered it a steal, and it has served me well since...

Thanks for your replies...why DID I buy this thing for $89US?? Another 60 and I could've bought the ProPac. Guess you hit it when you said an approach now might be to put the Luna V3.01 in my PIII and leave the PulsarI in my Athlon 1.3 with SonalXL and SoundForge.
What a juggling act I've created, altho this may "force" me to get into ADAT and stop recording audio thru an old Peavey Mixer into my SB5.1 in the P3.
I got it!! Put the SB Plat in my Athlon, where it started. If I put the Luna V3 in the PIII (where I already have my Oasys cause it works with the "Me" OS of the PIII) and wouldn't work in the W2000 environment in the Athlon. I've been stymied as to how to use the ADATS in my two Fostex Mixers, so one fees the light to the Pulsar and the other mixer sends light to the Luna in the separate machine. Pulsar and Luna communicate by light then, also? Oh, this is confusing...
Seriously, I should take advantage of your knowledge and good graces and ask how you would hook up...and I haven't even considered the SPDIF, which I don't even use as yet, on all three cards (including the SB)...Yes, perhaps this goof was "G's" way of telling me to get into the digital capabilities of the equipment I already own..with the ADAT cable I also already have.my mixers/cards have for the digital recording I could do now..As you have said, a "strange" move to upgrade Luna when I have Pulsar 3.... unless I run the cards on separate computers..of course then old Pulsar would miss being hooked up to Luna, wouldn't it? I don't get the upgrade that spills over from Luna..when connected directly to the old PulsarI.

The question is why he(she) wants to buy the Luna from you? unless it is about 50% less $$$! We can make a deal!

I immediately sent Creamware an email..like within about 18 hours of the purchase and asked them to understand my mistake (with all the hype to upgrade the card)...and requesting that they credit me $89 towards the ProPac so...I won't hold my breath! Next thing I would do if I have to "eat" the upgrade, would not be to sell the key but as we discussed, to move the LunaCard to my "Oasys" Computer, and start running adats/and or STDMs in and out of those cards
with the ability to utilize the luna's new features separately...I do have two Fostex ADAT-based mixers and a Fostex Digital Recorder with a 20 Gig HD that hasn't been utilized in the studio. Might say the hell with it and have the Oasys, LunaII and SB Platinum in the ol' P3...and...the PulsarI utilized along with my recording/sampling software ie; SonarXL, SoundForge, ChicenSys Translater, and some SoundFount Synths in Athlon 1.3
I'll just have to spend the time hooking up my LightPipe Hosa Cables in the right configuration. The Oasys with the LunaII might be quite a wild "effects"/mixer combination. My studio is pictured on my website, http://humangnome.com
