Hi

While recording I get these distorted sounds in my mix: the file 'strange sounds' provides an example (http://uk.f1.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/jeroenstarrenburg)

...anyone got some suggestions on how to fix this problem? I think it has to do with somwething in my new computer (I already tried using a different mixer, different cables).

I tried installing the Luna v2.5 Win 2x/xp file from the creamware site, but it conflicted with the Scope 4.0. I deinstalled both and tried reinstalling them in different setting (e.g. first the luna file and then scope, only the luna file etc). I still keep having the problem (I am now only using the scope 4.0)

My current set up:

Operating system: Windows XP, service pack 2 installed
Processors: Dual Intel Xeon 2.8
Mainboard: Dell 0x0392 with Intel E7525 chipset (with 82801EB (ICH5) southbridge)
Soundcard: Luna II (PCI slot (PCI bus 6, device 13, function 0), Scope 4.0

*edit*

and i forgot (i spent the last two hours reading about this subjet)

1x 80 GB 7200 SATA hard disk (for my programs)
1x 160 GB 7200 IDE hard disk (for recording)

i've read that SATA can mean trouble...otherwise pci latency can be the problem...i downloaded powerstrip to investigate my latency values:

my creamware card has a latency of 96 (whereas my ethernet controller and my firewire bus have a latency of 64). I made some changes in the different values, put the distortion problem persists...

here are the specs from the powerstrip report:

in the right thread.....

multi-processor setting in yout sequencer?
if off, try enabling it. if on, try disable it.
just guessing really, the link to your breifcase didn't work for me so i didn't hear the error.....

the 4.0 software should work...the luna software is rather old now, i wouldn't expect that to be any help....

any 'special' crap (read:paradox) devices for luna 2.5 installed?

stay off them, they can apparantly harm your system (and they aint good for creamware in general).

Hi all,

thank you for the reactions....
strange that the yahoo link doesn't work...i just tried it on my work computer
(i'm at work now and supposed to be working...but priorities, priorities) and it worked just fine? is it possible (and allowed?) to post the file here?...i put the music on the following page, so maybe now it will work:
http://www.geocities.com/jeroenstarrenburg/

i spent the rest of last night configuering etc (turning sound on and off in bios, playing with latency settings, hyperthreading on/off)...out of sheer frustration i reactivated my soundmax on board sound card....recording with that worked just fine...argh...and no paradox devices installed as far as i know...

but now: back to work and tonight i'll continue my quest

greetz

jeroen

is scope set to master in the samplerate dialog?
is cubase looking to scope as master(sync to creamware hardware) in the vst multitrack dialog?

are you connected to any other digital device? is the master/slave relationship to scope proper(if scope is master the other must be slave OR vice versa)?
