Greetings brave Appletians,

I'm trying to create some wallpapers for Macs but am unsure of what screen sizes they use. Is it the same as PCs with 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 etc ?

I have the cinema size screens for Mac of:
1680 x 1050
1920 x 1200
2560 x 1600

But are they very common yet ?

Any advice on what might suit the majority of users best would be most appreciated.

I don't know many cinema display users (well, I know one). The rest of my Mac pals use common VGA monitors which use standard resolutions like 1024x768 and 1280x1024. But you have to remember there are a lot of people using PowerBooks which have different resolutions. I suggest you'd rather ask at the very good source for mac users at www.xlr8yourMac.com forums

with the Mac's 'Appearance' (?) control panel you can select the picture and choose the way it's scaled and positioned.
If you supply the top resolution, it will scale down automatically and those concerned about the data volume can manually save a smaller version.

cheers, Tom

I think Spirit has proportions in mind rather than the sizes. The PowerBook and cinema displays have differnt proportions than 4:3

well, then 3 aspect ratios would be best.
H/V = 1.25 1.33 1.6
equivalent to
1280x1024, 1024x768 (800x600), CinemaDisplay

cheers, Tom
