there are no IRQ conflicts, I've replaced slots, I reinstalled SFP4, I tryed to install the old version's drivers.. nothing worked.

my specs is this:

Asus P4800 SE
Intel P4E 3000 Mhz

Hyperthreading enabled?
Got any external midi devices that might have Active Sensing?

I have 2 external midi devices, a roland keyboard and a roland modul... I dont know what is active sensing.. how can I check that?

and by the way, when I tryed to play a single track with windows media player, my computer ran for 48 hours, and then I decided to stop it. so I thought maybe it's a problam with midi or maybe it's a problam with my logic audio. it stucks only with logic though I didnt try any other software that works with midi....

Roland is very likely to send Active Sensing. It lets devices know weither they have an active connection or not. If no other MIDI is being transmitted for about 300ms, the device will start spitting out Active Sensing. So the receiver should get some MIDI every 300ms, always, be it notes, CC# or Active Sensing. If absolutely nothing is sensed, some devices induce an 'all notes off message' cos it supposes the MIDI connection is dead, by sender crash or something.
Check out http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tech/midispec.htm for more info on MIDI.

Load a MIDI Monitor into the project and hook it up to your hardware inputs. If Active Sensing is coming in, try to disable it from your hardware - for example my 505 had it on by default, but I disabled it from one of it's menu's. If that don't work, use a MIDI filter and filter it out straight after the hardware MIDI input in SFP.

OK, I have disabled the hyperthreading, and inserted a midi filter, and it still stucks.

hear this, it might help- when I play an audio instrument in logic, and playes alot of notes in one time(using my head and elbows) , and repeating this couple of time, in 10 seconds my computer stucks.
it's must be the midi I think.. no?

yes ur's midi. active sensing is most likely disablable in the global midi menu on your controller.

BREAKTHROUGH!! Ive found something VERY interesting-
I have recorded with 8 channels of heavy VST instrument tons of notes, to make my CPU work very hard- now listen to this- while in my project the "Luna midi A source" is connected to the "sequenser midi dest1" the computer stucks after half a second (when playing the 'song'), and if the midi source is'nt connected, it does'nt happen!!!!! after one minute it complains about system overload- but it doesnt stuck!!!
what can you infer from this fact?.....

Sounds like you have a MIDI feedback problem. Hook up MIDI Monitor devices to the Luna MIDI source and wherever else MIDI is going thru, and see what is going on. If you see lots and lots of messages going thru, that's probably the problem. You can use MIDI filters to remove out the problematic messages. If you describe your MIDI setup a bit more (what module is connected to what, what hardware you have connected on the MIDI inputs,) it'll be easier to point you toward possible solutions.

"Luna midi A source" is connected to the "sequenser midi dest1"- the source is a roland A-33 keyboard.
"sequenser midi source 1" is connected to "Luna midi A dest"- outputs midi into rolands XV50-50 modul.
that is all the midi I use..
And I have already tryed a filter, it didnt work.
thanks..

Are the XV50 modules and A33 keyboard connected together MIDI-wise? Have you tried the MIDI monitor to see what kind of messages are going thru? Try putting one between each source/dest pair, open them, and play the track that crashes your system, with your sequencer window not maximized (so you can see what happens in the MIDI monitors, in case you can't switch back to SFP before it crashes.)

Also, it's not just a matter of putting a filter, more like putting the filter at the right place and have it filter the right stuff.

Try unhooking both MIDI units (module and keyboard) and both source/dest pair (seq -> luna and luna -> seq) and see how that works.

Hmm I just noticed you are using Logic, you can load up some MIDI monitors in there too to monitor what's going on.

I had this same problem... There is a thread somewhere in here that the CW guys referred me to on "things you need to do to your windows XP/2000 system to make your pulsar work correctly"

One of those things is to TURN OFF Hyperthreading.

Also, you gotta turn off ACPI, and go to Standard PC. (you need to change the driver for this).

Also, make sure your motherboard does not overclock automatically like my asus did.
.........
Most likely this is because of your ACPI. Some people have computers that work fine with ACPI, but mine did not. Set it to Standard PC.

cheers,

many different types of freezing problems and an appropriate solution to all of them...

cream's problem solved(i believe), towards the bottom.

this one really looks like active sensing....

I dont know what is midi wise, but there is no phisical connection between the modul and the keyboard, they are both hooked to luna.

symbiote, I put the filter between the midi soucre to the sequenser dest.. it's ok that way?
the computer stucks ONLY when the midi soucre is connected to the sequenser dest.
8 bit, hyper threading is off, and my windows doesnt load when acpi is off (I configured the mode through the bios)

Yeah, that's where you should put it. Did you configure the MIDI filter? You can double click on it and configure what MIDI messages to filter. There's a page for normal messages (notes, CC) and one for system messages. I can't remember what it filters by default, you should turn on all system messages filtering to start with, looking on the MIDI monitor should tell you what else to filter.

Anyway, try the MIDI monitor thing, this definitely sounds like a MIDI problem. Do you have other stuff in your project? Like other sequencer MIDI source/dest to control stuff withing SFP? You might have a MIDI loop somewhere in there.

Actually my knowledge in SFP is so limited that I know only the basic stuff... I have only 3 or 4 connections in a project, and it is mostly between the 'Analog in' to the mixer etc.
Thats a disgrace, I know... but to learn this heavy subject you need time, and normally I prefer to record my music in this time.
anyway, I've inserted the filtered and marked the hole system related squares. and for 2 houres now my computer runs exellent.
I'm still not optimistic though, this machine have to work hard to gain my trust back! 2 bloody months....

well, if it does work, thank you all very very much. youve been a real good supporters! (unlike those CW technical supporters.... some support that was..!)

Yeah, it's a pretty complex system, simple routings can become complex pretty fast, and it's not always easy to visualize all the paths that signals can take. Don't sweat it too much, learn at your own pace, you'll learn a bit here and a bit there, and in a few months it'll make more sense.

So if it works, you can try unticking a few things in the filter, like Notes and Continuous Controllers, if you want to use your keyboard to control synths/effects. If this crashes, there might be something wrong with the keyboard, since you mention getting alot of duplicate notes.

And as always, feel free to ask more questions/pespectives/etc.
