Only listened to it on my "novelty" headphones at work, but the bass that kicks in around 1:08 sounds awesome...what did you use for it?

The singer's got a nice voice, but the dynamics of the vocals seem a bit "up and down" in the track (too quiet sometimes?) and perhaps lack some warmth...they sound quite 'digital' (but I'll listen to it @ home to get a clearer idea). Perhaps some 'sung echoes' of the vocals (hope you get what I mean) as backing would help fill them out a bit.

One of your more complete tracks, though!

Thanks Roysten for the review..

That bass sound was chosen by my mate. like i said he started the track and did the main musical content. big props to him really. i just mixed it down and added a few bits. and made it drop with more power.

i'll get back to you on the bas/sub sound itself.promise.it's from a reason refill, i know that.but that ain't a load of help.

when you say the voice could be more warm. How is that acheived..? a bit of eq in the low mid area?

i'll compress the vocals a bit more or ride the fader. i think the fluctuation/quietness happens in the verse area?

Thanks again..

I need to check this properly at home on me monitors to be able to comment further. What sort of mic/preamp combo were the vocals recorded though? That's often where vocal warmth is created or lost.

BTW, would you have any objections if I sent one or two of your tunes to my friend Greg? He's a big DnB nut & a fine DJ...I'd like to hear what he thinks of your tunes.

edit: this tune is really growing on me!

counterparts.

i used a akg c1000 into a tl audio 5051 channel strip.. I may have over used a vst plugin on the vocal which could be introducing the digitalness. i can now hear the digital sort of sound, now that it's pointed out, basically it's not incredibly smooth. i recently got one of these http://www.adkmic.com/specs/TL.html as a birthday present. maybe should rerecord with this.

about that bass sound it's a 808 sample, i can send it to you if you want.

also yeah sure, send some of my tracks to your dj mate just ask that he doesn't give copies to others. as some of these tracks posted here may b getting a release at somepoint. B nice to hear his comments as well.

V nice to hear the track is growing on you

Sounds much better/warmer on my monitors at home than the cheap and nasty 'phones I use at work for sure...

"The new tune is utterly rinsing! I love this guys stuff and want all of it on some dubplates thankyouplease!!!

Á la: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 45972&rd=1

Love the track! Where can I download a whole album of his stuff?"

 Sounds like he'd like some vinyl of your stuff to use when he's DJing!

Great track, strong vocals. Loved the main snare - nice and snappy - just needed to vary it a bit (FX? note length? snare rolls?) on the outro, as it got a little stale with everything else muted. Nit-picking as usual, but everything else was spot on - loads of great detail in sound and arrangement.

Keep'em coming...

Tell You mate greg that if he wants he can buy a test press directly off us when we get the tracks released.

tell him to keep an eye on http://www.mutationrecords.co.uk

also if he wants, if i can get his e-mail address i can let him know when we get the test presses so he'll have a vinyl bout a month or so before the release.

Hey Liquid Edge,
I just listened to your song. Excellent, I like it very much!

If I may offer some recommendations:

You feature this repeating "whawhawha" sound. half of the time it's during a vocal phrase and other half after a phrase. I think that for the vocal time occurences it's to far in the front. maybe you could try to push it backwards give it some nice decent reverb and/or delay...

Other thing I want to mention is your "jungle" snare. On my consumer hifi headphones they should go with less high freqencies...

Cheers,
Peter
