Hello to the Planet Z ! First post here but I've been monitoring this site for a while.
I currently have A Pulsar II, a Scope board and an A16 Ultra that I may or may not keep.
I'm trying to get one of these board working with an other sound card I/O (Emu 1820M or RME 9652Hdsp) with no luck. I've asked and got the defeater key from Creamware. I've tried it, but it doesn't do anything. All I get when trying to get the card working in XTC mode is "plugins are not properly installed". I've reinstalled the scope soft a dozen times, nada.
Does anybody ever got this setup working ?
Anybody ever got the defeater key working ?
Are the Creamware card really unable to work in XTC mode with another card I/O (like a powercore) ?
I've read nearly all the posts with Xtc on it.
I already know about the Sfp mode which I still use in a separate machine, but I would really like to integrate one card in my main Daw.
THanks for this fantastic site guys. Quite active and full of ressources. I've tried lots of free devices and I found some incredible free tools here.
I'm waiting for a SDK and I hope to get into this very soon.
Peace to all.
So, has anybody got the defeater key working ?
here are the closest topics I've found :

The origional XTC card has no i/o's so it would work for you. Also a pulsar II can run in this mode but you need to get a little key that defeats the onboard clock from creamware- This is what I have but I do have some issues-
Ryan, could you tell me which issues where they ?
Could you get the card to, at least, function in XTC mode with diff I/O's ?
I've not seen ONE post clearly (based on experience) stating that it does or doesn't work with the defeater key.
Any takers ?
TIA

"Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here can help- I have a pulsar II a powercore and a uad 1 and a motu 2408mkiii and 1296. Anyway I can get xtc mode working with out the i/o's by getting the clock defeater key from creamware (free from the distributer). This way I use the motu but have all three dsp cards in Nuendo 2. My problem is I cannot use plugins in different sections- I>E> i can use master inserts but then no track inserts, I can use synths but no master insert, I can use group insert but no other- and so on-
So I can use 6 plugs each on a different group insert but not one master and one group.
The error that i get is the creamware registration screen (i.e. select your card). If i load allkeys it does not work/accept the key.
If i use the pulsar II i/o's then it works fine.
I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas. thanks,
Ryan"
So Ryan had this setup sort of working.
Now If I could get RyanC to watch this topic, that'd be great !
I'm going to try the private message feature..
Sorry for this monologue but at least there will be a place that summarize this recurrent XTC problem.

afaik, if you have installed the software as xtc and removed the io daughter card and put the plug in it's place, then it absolutely should work as an xtc card('cause then it is one).
but WHY?
you are eliminating a very good io and there's nothing remotely close(or maybe at all) in price that's higher quality or better sounding.....

Thanks for replying Gary.
For a short moment, I thought I was onto something. I've reinstalled the scope again, with no I/O plate, the clock key defeater plugged in, choosed "my card has no I/O"... Launch Nuendo, launch a Xtc synth.
"Xtc not properly installed..." !!! Arrgh !
But there is a variant now, it's asking me for software serial and plugin activation key now...
I've tried with asio enabled. The plugs load properly without need for activation.
I give up.
It just doesn't work.
I'll end up using the cards as a synth connected with adat to my Daw (the way it is now already).
Now, as far as using the scope as my main daw card with the A16Ultra, there is simply no way...
Why ?
I don't like the sfp environment that much. I agree it is very powerful, but I don't like the fact it is another layer to Nuendo. I've grown on using my software mixer and environment, I want to keep it in one place.
The Emu 1820M I use, has a much better integration with Nuendo. You can load a dsp effect in the mixer or as a vst plugin at the same time. If only Sfp could stay on while using xtc plugs as well, I wouldn't hesitate one second.
I've recorded two albums with the Creamware cards and toggling beetween sfp/xtc mode was a nightmare. Each time I would have to track after I started mixing (with xtc plugs), I would loose the xtc plugs assignments...
Finally I upgraded the studio's setup to an Rme card (with 3 presonus pres) + Uad 1 and kept an A16Ultra for 16 outputs. I tried to integrate the Scope&Pulsar as Dsp cards only with no luck.
I then tried to migrate the two cards to my home setup's main daw. But it seems it's a no no, at least, the way I first wanted it.
Thanks again for your answer.
All the best,
Bifop

bah, i just KNEW VSTi's would dumb people off....

ok, im being sarcastic. i totally understand your wish to have XTC up and running, and i understand your comparison with the EMU card (tho its not fair at all
)
however, i can just agree wit the former post; stick to the non-xtc mode.
it brings a lot of opportuinties to you that is, in general, totally overlooked by too many people.

Hey!
I have SFP/Scope 4.0 installed right now. I have dreams to use XTC mode. Do i need to re-install the whole setup for XTC mode, or will it work automatically so long as SFP does not load on windows bootup???
I don't remember any question about XTC mode during install, but I'd like to use it.
I have a Pulsar 2 - Classic, and i'm buying a Scope-Project Z-link+A16 Ultra to STDM-Link together.
Basically... I want to use XTC mode and use the Pulsar/Scope I/O. I've seen many forums about setting it up, but again... I'm going to ask:
"DO I NEED (or atleast advised) TO REINSTALL SFP/SCOPE 4.0 WHEN I SWITCH TO XTC???"
