THE PROBLEM:
Apple G4 Mac 733 MHz, 640 MB RAM, Mac OS 9.2.1 (without any Inits and Controlpanels, which are not absolutely necessary), OMS 2.3.8, board Pulsar 1 (Software 2.01 or 2.04 or 3.0) and Cubase VST 4.1r2 don't work together!
It is not possible to install Pulsar version 2.04 and 3.0 without a systemcrash (I've got version 2.01 on CD from my hardware dealer, version 3.0 is a download from the Creamware page).
Even on a harddisk which contains just a pure Mac OS 9.2.1 the installation of Pulsar 3.0 failed.
The old Pulsar software version 2.01 (which is running on my G3) I could install without problems. And it is running on the G4.
BUT: As long as I just use MIDI channels in Cubase, everything works and the signal at the Pulsar Audio Output is fine. So I can use the Pulsar software-synthies. But if I import any audiofiles in Cubase, the signal at the Pulsar Audio-Output sounds totally crashed. I tried everything I could imagine. Nothing helped. Then I installed the Pulsar board again on my G3: Everything worked fine. Pulsar board back into the G4: Same problem as described.
By the way: Cubase 4.1r2 without OMS, Pulsar board and Pulsar software works perfect, the sound at the integrated Mac-Output is clean.
THE QUESTIONS:
1. Why is it not possible to install Pulsar Software 2.0.4 or 3.0 without the Mac crashing already during the installation?
2. Why can't I use Audiofiles in Cubase with installed Pulsar software 2.01? The Output sounds really crashed and is of no use.
I am really despaired!!!
The person who can help me to get Pulsar and Cubase running properly on my G4, will get a reward! Even if it is an employee of Steinberg or Creamware ...
