Man...
If this isn't already posted by someone:

http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html

This is craImagey
If someone ever asks you, what actually is dance music, then giving this link is anough to answer, in words and music as well

For 10 USD a month you get a (max) 128k streaming service.

The very personnal and cool descriptions of every style are a pleasure Image to read, very insight and cool.
I could easily expect them in a Rolling Stone magazine or name it.

I think it's a great interface, if it isn't a demo page.
At least, streaming from this 'DI.FM' , you could run the music with it on your birthday home party, where people want different styles
Everyone immediately understands how it works, even real digibates, if that's what you want on your party

My favourit 'collumn' is Home/Gear/TECH12.

My forthetimebeing favourit streamloops: Trance/Psychedelic/nr.6 and
House/JPOP/nr.1 (crazy fascinating this one, Japanese)

cheerz

It was posted by Bill Doughty on page 3 of this thread:

But it is a great reminder. Good study guide for us who know little about these styles.

That's a comprehensive as I've ever seen! While there are some occasional inaccuracies this site is a damn fine resource. A walk down memory lane... or my record collection.

Nice site,

It's only obvious that the writer of this site isn't objective at all about all those genres.
Oh well, fortunately everyone has a different taste

I feel this different
If the writer had choosen for serious and 'objective' description, he would get two negative results:
1. it's never objective, never.
2. 'serious' would be more boring, and would it make almost impossible to give information between the lines.

The way he describes the difference between Trance/Goa and Trance/Psycho, completely in line with his very personnal opinion, is exactly an answer to my longtime question about that subject.
Most imported thing: my question was relevant, it is a known theme, and then the humorous descriptions are very to the point

In fact, he puts the requested objectivity into it in a subtle way, by switching the viewpoint a few times.

As I said, I just read them like a collumn from a journalist who's approach gives me the feeling he knows the themes, the old discussions and the scoffings probably

I'm glad he's not a teacher

(not to argue, just for fun  )

Yup, I do realise that one can never be totally objective, and most of the time the humorous descriptions do put a smile on my face. It was only the first thing that came to mind, but that's all

As I said, it's a cool site and I've already been spending a lot of time reading all those discriptions

The site's good reading for record shop owners, then they know what they've put in the relevant bins

This is the first place that I have ever seen that classified Skinny Puppy as "darkwave". Heh, made me laugh.
