To all Mac&Pulsar users....Help plz

hi guys, i hope u can help me.
I am thinking to buy the new pulsar 3, but many ppl tell me that with mac there's many problem....I have a G4 733, not the new 733 quicksylver, the last one with 2 cache

, is true that there are's many problem? i use logic audio platinum 4.7.3.+amt8....
and one more, pulsar sound is good?
i am thinkin to buy a a/d conv. too.....
i ask this cause i need a good system without crash or problems (like all), and i am not sure to buy a pulsar or a digi001, i know that there are different but with the digi001 i am sure to go well.
plz help me to choose and tell me more about mac + pulsar version 3.

Uhm I've been experiencing instability with version 3. I use it with a G4 466Mhz (AGP) and OMS 2.3.7 (2.3.8 fucked things up). I'll be testing pulsar v3 with the QS G4 867Mhz I bought for my home use.

I have a PulsarII and SRB card.

I'll keep you posted, meanwhile check the mac posts.

i must decide this week what card buy, digi001 or pulsar, let' s stay in contact ....
we canhave fun an fix problem togheter in the future.

I think there are no 100% computer related musical/recording equipment (or at least I haven't seen such). Every complex piece of gear (computer one) depends on so many factors... I use Pulsar in a Mac environment and it is as stabile as other systems and also as unstabile as others. Comparing to Digi 001: Pulsar is less stabile but is more flexible. Each software update brings more stabile drivers and other parts. If you want just to record audio/midi signals to your computer I'd recommend you Digi. But if you want to use your computer as a multi instrument/recording studio - buy Pulsar then. Pulsar synths are more stabile comparing to VSTi and sound great. Pulsar ad/da converters sound very smooth and are quiet. But the most important thing is you get almost NO latency (I get 4ms without ANY probs) and on Digi you get (I don't know exactly but...) about 250 to 1024 samples - and it depends on your session complexity. Pulsar comes with high quality plugins (synths, fx) but without any sequencer - Digi with sequencer and some fx.

I'm glad I bought Pulsar to my Mac but it took some months before I could say it (you know, extension tweaks and so on) but you are in better situation: most of the tips you can find here: http://planetz.ghostwheel.com/forums/vi ... &forum=3&7

i got a pulsarII v3 card in a B/W G3 OS9.2, cubase 5, OMS2.3.8 and this works really fine. i also have the A8 ad/da convertor, which does the job quit well. only thing is, i can't seem to use reason (which i only use for drum sounds 'cause the drum machine from pulsar sucks, me thinks (is the eds16 a good buy?)) together with cubase, but it works with pulsar. so maybe oms2.3.7 might do the trick.
Digi001 is just for recording, and if that's your thing, you should go for that card. a friend of mine has it, and she's really happy about it.
it would be nice to see a MIDI/Audio sequencer from creamware coming out.
but don't take my word for it, cause i hardly have any experience on this. i jumped from atari1040 to mac and pulsar, which is like going from here to mars if you don't have any experience in the digital domain as i do(did).
as mentionned before, it also took me a while to get convinced of my decision, but now i'm very happy.
if you have the money, go for as many sharcks as possible, cause 6 might not be enough for really big projects (although there are many ways to work around this prob).

next week there's a pulsar work shop in my music store. hope i can learn lots of stuff over there. anyone been to such a gathering?

I previously reported, somewhere, that I was having trouble with Mac OS 9.1 and Pulsar 2.04a. I had to revert back to Mac OS 9.0.4 to get it all working. OMS 3.8 does indeed suck as well as being the work of pure evil, so I also had to run v3.7 of OMS and everything was fine.

After a recent reformatting, I decided to bite the bullet and update to Mac OS 9.1 and Pulsar V3.0. It's the most stable combination I've had so far and I have no idea why

Everyone's Mac and experiences are different so it's a combination of experimentation and luck I feel. Have fun and wear a protective head-cap to reduce the amount of damage from the hair-pulling you're about to engage in
