I'm having trouble installing Scope 4. After activating the Setup.exe file, installation goes fine, import allkeys etc. Then installation nears its end, the progress bar comes to its end, and the installation freezes. After a ctrl-alt-delete, it shows scope installation i not responding. I have installed the recent ASPI adaptec 4.71 drivers, but it didn't make a difference.

P3 750 512MB
Pulsar 1 boards - 2 of them
XP pro

Also, what do I choose?
Home
Project M
Project S

I don't have any of the Mix n master or synth packs. But isn't Home for Luna?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

install it as project m or s. the devices you don't have a key for just won't work(you could install it as scope professional too). are you installing a downloaded version? try redownloading or at least unzip it again if so.

Thanks for the help guys, but still no worky. I downloaded the update again, unzipped, and same all over again.

Now, just to be sure, When I get to the part "select vst plugins folder for XTC components, It gives me two options for destination or I can browse a folder.

1 is C:/program files/Steinberg/Vst plugins

and 2 is D:/xSource

I can disable or browse new folders at this point. This seems straight forward enough, but what and why is D:/xSource. I do have a D drive, but why is it defaulting there and not C. I have tried just about all options here but none seem to work.

And the last thing that appears before it freezes is E-reflector device copying to D:/xSource.

Should I be uninstalling verion 3.1c first? It doesn't indicate so in the install notes. Ya know, everytime I have tried to update the software for these cards from version 2 I have had trouble, but not like this. Usually Its just getting the software to recognize the cards are in the system. Which meant pulling them out and installing in a different slot.

Then again, is it even worth the bother. Is 4.0 any more stable than 3.1c.

Thanks for the help.

hmmm,
no, you shouldn't need to remove 3.1.
yes, 4.0 is stable and there's no reason in my daily experience not to use it.
the second xtc option should be disabled unless you want to put the plugs in another vst folder. you might try the browse function to point the second option to a usable folder just in case the disable function is not engaged properly (???). you could delete the extra files later.

i have installed 4.0 on a number of computers with no trouble, so it should work and i think it's basically the same installer as 3.x, so...if the install is really buggered up, sometimes it's easier to just back up all your settings and format and start over...removing all the 4.0 files and registry entries before trying again might help....but i would expect that it will work as is...
